What Buccaneers fans are saying

This week the Carolina Panthers travel to Tampa Bay to face a Buccaneers team in front of no fans, something they have done every season for a while now. But if fans were in the stadium, what would they be saying before the game?

I searched far and wide for Bucs fans who have well thought out opinions. It wasn't easy but I did find a few. Here are the results.

From Buc Zone

Some Bucs fans are dreading what losing to the 2020 Carolina Panthers rebuild would mean.

Gotta think we take the Kitties this week, if not it’ll be a long year and another offseason hype train gone off the rails. As you guys have stated stop CMC and make Teddy beat us, win the turnover battle and we should be good.

The Panthers are not the Saints. They aren't favored to win the NFC with a HOF QB and a long time HC. They are just as "out of sync" with a new QB as we are. Even more so with a whole new offense for everyone else. Not winning this game would definitely be a huge red flag.

This is my main motivation this week. I want the Carolina Panthers to inflict a tremendous amount of chaos and drama within the Tampa Bay organization. Losing to the Panthers would start a panic the likes of which we have never seen since the Jon Gruden Tampa Bay days. Mass hysteria, and I would soak up every single Bucs tear and save them in a special bottle as a keepsake.

Some Bucs fans are more impressed with the Carolina Panthers than Carolina Panthers fans are.

The Panthers scare me a bit. They're not good, but nobody has scouted their schemes yet. They have a ton of speed on both sides of the ball, especially at the skill positions. McCaffrey, Robbie Anderson, DJ Moore, and Curtis Samuel aren't the BEST group in the league, but they're all juiced. On defense, even in his first game, Derrick Brown was a Man, and he's going to give our line problems. Brian Burns too. Again, not a great group, but they have guys who can cause problems.

I do know how good or bad Las Vegas is but Carolina is probably better than people thought they would be. I don't like this game for us. I don't think Carolina is a team you can let hang around and I think they can beat a team that makes the mistakes a Bruce Arians led team does.

I think this is a reasonable attitude for Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans. The Carolina Panthers offensive line did pretty well on Sunday. That was the biggest question mark on the offense. If they can continue to play at a high level the Panthers can put up 30+ points all season long. A couple of turnovers by the Bucs and they will likely lose. Sure, the Carolina Panthers are not a playoff team this season, but they are good enough to whip your hiney if you sleep on them for a second.

Score predicitons

Here is a sampling of the typical score prediction from Bucs fans along with a prediction of passing yards from teddy Bridgewater.

Quote

35-14 Panthers

Yucks - 33
Kitty Kats - 24

Bucs win 30-3

But my favorite score prediction is right here.

Quote

Panthers 28 Bucs 17

Bridgewater 167 yds passing

Brady throws another pick 6 and the fans start calling for Josh Rosen to start.

My god, to hear calls for the great Tom Brady to be benched in favor of Josh Rosen? My god. What an amazing period that would add to a cheater's legacy.

Not bad.   I personally think they have a get right game against us.   The saints offense didn't really do that well against their defense.  I still have visions of our first game against them last year (cam's last game with us) too.  They bottled up cmc pretty well in that one.  I feel like they win but maybe it's at least close.  Similar to the raiders.  But yea it would be great for them to lose to us and see the meltdown begin too!

Yeah. I can respect that, but no. This should be a blowout. Looking at the schedule best case scenario is we go 0-6 to start the season then our first win happens. Let’s hope it’s worse, for every Panthers fans sake.

Remember that they will likely be without Godwin and Evans is slowed by injury. All it is really going to take is for us to get pressure on their OL and Brady to throw the typical Bruce Arians offense INT's.

This one really does have the potential to be much closer than anticipated.

A Panther win would be so sweet!

38-17 Bucs. I think Sunday we find out just how bad the Raiders are.

The Bucs were never going to win that game vs the Saints. It was a tough first game in which they played better than the reaction suggests.

The Panther’s legit might go 0-16, this year. I hope I’m wrong, but I see this team being in a lot of games, just not winning any of them.

bucs win. last week was a big let down and it won't happen again

As a bucs fan I assume this is a mantra, and as a panthers fan I respect that. Can see this going either way, and think both teams will be extremely better as the season goes along.

Completely agree about the Panthers looking better than they actually are against a bad Raiders team. The two teams honestly looked evenly matched and that to me makes the Raiders look much worse than it makes the Panthers look better.

Bucs 45

Panthers 24

Panthers hang around early but Bucs light up the scoreboard against a defense that will struggle to put up a stop.

    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
    • Bryce’s deep passes are intermediate passes for other strong armed QBs. I will say that Bryce’s accuracy on his deep passes have improved. Before they would just sail out of bounds. Now the WR actually has a fighting chance on the ball.
    • And Dilfer won a SB, idc. Almost impossible to miss the playoffs when you have that good of a defense
