Film Room: Derrick Brown

The Panthers knew what they were getting when they drafted Derrick Brown. He’s not Aaron Donald, and he never will be. That’s not his DNA. Folks need to stop expecting double digit sacks—I doubt that’s ever going to be a regular thing for him.

He can continue to refine his pass rush technique. He will improve with more reps.

I’ve compared him to Kris Jenkins for months, in terms of measurables and technique.

He made FOUR big-impact stops against the run Sunday. The variety of ways in which he got it done here is what always stood out on tape during the draft eval process.

But Issiah Simmons can replace Luke!

Word from Cardinals fans is he’s looked lost and they’re struggling to find a position for him. He’s getting a look at safety on Sunday for our game because of injuries they’ve had at the position. I hope we go after him early and often.

Love the breakdown Ellis. Thank you for sharing. Always love the quality content. Brown looks like the real deal, just not a pass rusher first and after last year I am more than happy with that and what he brings on game days.

    • just read the thread. I would like to say that the team not being sold to Tepper is an absolute banger of an answer and probably the right one

Initial gut reaction when I first thought of this question is Kasay kicks it in bounds on the kickoff, but unfortunately I still think New England wins that game even with that My second instinct was pulling Bene out before he breaks his leg in the playoffs. My crackpot theory is if he never gets hurt we win the superbowl. I refuse to go back and watch the game but at some point Peyton throw an absolute duck that should have been pick 6'd. but because we were on our like fifth outside corner he was slow to the ball. this would have completely flipped that game because I'm pretty sure Denver scored that drive and the next one was the Cam sack fumble
