Let's all send some love to our dude Ron Rivera

Our former head coach, despite anyone's opinions on him as a head coach, is a quality human being. We should all send him some positive vibes as he is clearly struggling with his chemo treatments.

I hope he can take some time off and get some rest. Washington will be there when he gets healthy.

Very very true. I was not a fan of Ron's coaching, but I had the honor and the pleasure to wait on him on two noteworthy occasions: his 50th birthday, which fell before the week of his first playoff game as a head coach, and the day the Greg Hardy thing broke, and he and Stephanie both have always been gracious, down to earth and outstanding members of the community when they were here. Truly wishing for a speedy recovery for Ron in his battle with cancer.

Keep pounding Ron!

This cancer survivor wishes him the best. I don't know what kind of treatment he is getting but if it's chemo, I'm impressed he is working through it. Chemotherapy, at least the version I had, makes you feel like you just ran a marathon with the worst flu you ever had in your life. Keep pounding Coach!

My dad has survived pancreatic cancer, soon after was diagnosed with leukemia, recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, and now they have found lesions on his spine.  I wish anyone and their family dealing with cancer the best. Hope he recovers quickly and can move on with his life.

That's an unpleasant description. Yikes!

Sorry to hear. My mom suffered through a number of health problems in her life including a bout with cancer. I can relate.

That is terrible.  Sending good thoughts for you and your father.

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
