Hey, we earned those draft picks with legit crappy teams.  This isn't a crappy team.  Did I know that before the season?  No.  Because no one knew this team, still don't.  The fun of this year is going to be finding out how good they can be together.

And the great teams we have had, the SB appearances, the superstars, the top draft picks...... we still have not put together back to back winning seasons.  Maybe the deep cycle is not the answer to building a consistent winner?

This offseason has been one long drawn out downer as 9 of 10 posters here fought to see who could be the most negative about our chances.

The chance for the half-full guys to raise their mugs is now, may not last so I am enjoying my victory Monday.

We earned those records mainly with a Will Grier type QB. This team (and the coaches) has far exceeded my expectations. I wasn’t worried about a terrible record because I think the top QBs could be really really good.

2015 isn’t a SB year without Cam and Luke, same with Peppers and Gross. Those terrible years weren’t bad because there were top guys available. If it was let year’s draft (Burrow wasn’t Burrow yet) then I wouldn’t have said boo about going for the top pick, but with Lawrence I saw a decade+ franchise guy available, a great consolation for a crappy year to maybe jump start a run. Now I honestly have no idea where we are heading. We might be getting a wee bit ahead of ourselves but with so many crappy teams we won’t be in line for any of the top guys in the draft.

the iron strikes early this year as Bill O Brien has already been fired from the Texans. He left an absolute disaster down there, 0-4 with no first or second round pick. Might be awhile until they can fully rebuild. Sorry Watson!

I heard an interesting interview on the radio today with a former Texans player and he cited Jack Easterby (former Patriots "character coach") as the catalyst for the multi-year unraveling of top management within the Houston organization.  Now he's the last man standing...

Man, he really blew the team up. They had talent (read Hopkins) last year and had KC down in the playoffs by a lot before falling apart.

I was looking at JJ Watt. Man, what a boat anchor he’s been. $75M in cap hits the past 5 years and he’s been a waste 4 of the 5 years, including this year where he’s JAG. 1 great year, 3 injured years with 1 FF and 5.5 sacks total and this year where he’s looking pedestrian.

So worried about Hopkins $$$. They could have cut Watt with no dead cap and paid Hopkins, easy. The trade for Tunsil also cost Hopkins due to the $$$ extension and a poo load of talent. Awful GM.

Their owner is a terrible human who is also terrible at football. As soon as they announced BoB would be the GM this was their future. It's all just so incredibly stupid and it couldn't have happened to nicer people.

If you're talking about Bob McNair, he died. His wife owns the team now.

Thanks for the heads up, I completely missed that.

Is his wife any better? Obviously at life because the football side answers itself.

Texans have always only shot themselves in the foot. From the very beginning, that's what they have done. A crappy GM obtains a few good and a couple great players and surround them with poo coaches and players. They are cut from the same cloth as Cleveland and Detroit. It's their history and their destiny.
