What formation is this (Brian Burns split wide right)

Saw this a few times Sunday.  Don't know if this was covered in the gameday thread, but I'm curious to know what this is.

Anyone with All 22 see if we sent a LB from that formation? I can't remember from the game.

Left DE out wide as well, but Burns is out there almost in a different zip code. Burns does, however, have the full attention of the LT, LG, C, TE and RB.

That angle makes that formation look like the easiest thing in the world for that running back to take a handoff against. Maybe a better QB would've recognized that and audibled out of the passing play and we'd have gotten gashed. Either way it worked, but it is kinda scary looking to me.

As was just said, both DE's lined up wide, the DT's packing the left side is what make is look unique.

2 LB's look to be ready to fill the gap on the side w RB

That is a pretty normal alignment for a DE. He is lined up on the outside shoulder of where an in-line TE would be lined up. It’s called wide 9 or 9 technique and it’s best utilized with speed rushers in obvious passing downs.

The funky part of that formation is the left side overload with both the 1 tech and 3 tech DTs lined up on the left. That forces a 1v1 pass rushing opportunity with the 3T and the guard.

If I had to guess that play was a 3rd and long since it’s basically a free 8 yard run

Edit: Can see on the top text that it was with 17 seconds left in the 1st half so basically any run would have been a win for us. Believe that was the play where Tre dropped an INT.

Right, thanks. Makes a lot more sense if we were in an essentially prevent defense. Swear I saw it a few times though
