All of you were right about Cam

I'm the wrong person to cheer for Favre's place in the whole QB pecking order.  I do think he had an incredible arm, and he was extremely competitive.  But I also think he made some of the dumbest throws I have ever seen from an NFL QB in big games.   That came from him expecting his arm to make up for bad decisions.

Maybe I'm in the minority on this, but if I were in a playoff game and I had to choose between Favre's cannon arm and his decisions, or Cam's cannon arm and his decisions, both in their prime, I'd be telling Cam what plays we wanted to run as he was ready to take the field.

Does that mean Cam was a better QB overall?  Not necessarily, but I trust his decision-making with comparable arm strength a lot more than I would have trusted Favre's.

Decsion making is an entirely different discussion.  Was merely highlighting how poo mechanics are only something people care about when a QB isn’t winning.

If a QB is winning.  Sports talk is raving about the throws.

I don't think Brett Favre was lazy.  I don't think Mahomes is lazy.

you know what all those players consistently do.....have poo mechanics.

people cheer poo mechanics when the outcome is good.  Look at what Brett did.  He threw a laser off his back foot with his body pointing away from the WR.  How awesome is his arm!!!

When your shoulder takes a beating and you can't make that throw with the same kind of velocity mechanics matter.

NE is void of talent. If Brady we’re still there he’d already have a “season ending injury” and the results would be the same. Sans Edelman no other offensive player they have would start on any other team.

Honestly looked like Cam has realized this and was trying to force what wasn’t there yesterday.

I feel for him.

I'm not bitter. Stop speaking in code when you describe a Black person's work ethic.

Cam wasn't lazy, If he wants to describe lazy a lazy NFL qb he should bring up Johnny Manziel, Jimmy Clausen, Jamarcus Russell..... they were lazy. If Cam had a flaw it was that he wanted to win so badly he sacrified a longer career for it.

Repeatedly accusing someone of speaking in "racist code" is not very productive. @pantherclaw is a good dude. I agree that there are absolutely people who have racist beliefs and are very vocal haters of Cam because of that (look no further than my backyard in Boston right now coming off his recent couple games...). @pantherclaw is not one of those people. I don't agree with his choice of words either, I don't think Cam was ever lazy or that many of his shortcomings as a passer were his fault (I blame Dorsey/Shula 99% for those) but I don't think it's unreasonable to think Cam could've done better in some of those regards, and is partly responsible for that. I get that sometimes it's tough to separate legitimate criticism from veiled criticism/hate because of how much there is out there (just look at the PFT comments sections...) but I think it's pretty clear that this is a case of legitimate criticism, whether you agree with it or not -- which I don't either.

I've never thought Cam was lazy, or a bad player I only try to be level headed (doesn't always work) just because I wasn't in denial about the Cam situation doesn't mean I dislike him or don't respect him, The extreme level of homerism pertaining to the end of his run here was over the top....

I'm just calling it like I see it.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't thinking your comment was directed at me.  I just have strong feelings that Favre, while a great QB, is also overrated among the upper-echelon of QBs.

You are right, the talking heads focused (and still do) on "Favre giveth."  They missed the part where "Favre taketh away."  He did both a lot.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
