Looks like Rivera tried to kick the tires on Eric Reid and offered him the opportunity to join the practice squad.

Reid decided that the PS is beneath him.

What a clown.

Which person? Reid or Rivera? Or both?

Reid obviously. Rivera extended an olive branch and Reid chose to be an idiot. You can't drum up Instagram likes from the practice squad which is all this clown cares about.

i think i'm starting to get a bead on you.  maybe try an alt right panthers forum instead of this one

I was never a Reid fan, but the guy has started nearly 100 games and earned over $25M over the course of his career. Honestly, I don't blame him for declining a practice squad offer.

Snacks Harrison has accomplished and earned more and took a PS spot. PS spot is better than no spot, if Reid truly wants to play football (he doesn't).

The practice squad is a little different this year. Go look at some of the names on it. It's just an extension of the roster (with drastically reduced pay).

I'm not arguing for or against Reid and/or his motivations here. All I'm saying is that I can understand why he'd pass. Some people are going to arrive at one conclusion or the other based on who he is and it's a conclusion they arrived at long ago, this situation just gives them a reason to hope back on their soap box about it... again.

He just offered Reid a job for $12,000 a week and a shot (a good one) at making it back onto the regular roster. Practice squad also puts you in play for other teams (under certain conditions) while you get to maintain football conditioning and accrue some more pro time.

I don't think anyone on this board would turn down $12k a week, but then again, I don't know what his finances are like (and to have earned $25 million that early in life), so who am I to say? Everything is relative, right?

I just don't see where anyone in the far-too-short-career NFL can turn down that kind of offer, especially when he admits it's the only one he has received.

Several accomplished veterans have been signed to practice squads this year.

My opinion: Honestly, if 32 teams aren't even interested in just having you on their roster, holding out for a starting job seems a little delusional.

    • it's pretty simple IMO.  The Tepper Panthers are the most unsuccessful professional sports in all of sports.  The problem isn't the posters here have changed.  The product dictates the atmosphere more than anything.  In reality, the daily convos about THE worst team in all of pro sports on a fanatics site....is going to feature harsh and critical convo.  Only one entity can actually change that.  It's the Carolina Panthers football team.
    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
