I’m honestly kind of shocked he has the reputation to win an award like this. Definitely not saying he doesn’t deserve it, but he’s an under the radar guy on a low profile team without flashy stats.

Happy he is getting the recognition he has earned.

It really seems like there has been a concerted effort by the NFL this year to boost the status of the Panthers.  I see Panthers stuff in more general NFL commercials these days, also they seem to talk about us a lot more on national shows lately.  I think there has been a big change league-wide since Tepper and Rhule took over.

They don't give out awards for tackles. You need sacks/ints etc, all the exciting stuff. He didn't put up those stats as a rookie

he was still voted runner up to Willis for DROY.  I wasn't arguing he should of beat Willis.  Just surprising he didn't pull it in a season he was runner up.

*just went back and looked, I thought Beason had more INTs, FFs, FRs.  He had shockingly few.

    • Well he quickly deflected the question about Rico's "almost 7 YPC." He is very polished and he transitioned well to non-answers and side steps. I can see why a guy like him was able to pull the wool over on guys like Tepper.
    • 31st rushing D and 8 carries by Rico is coaching.  Rico is easily the best offensive weapon right now and it’s not really close.  *literally everyone knows Dalton is washed, horrible and shouldn’t even be a backup QB.   Drive 1? ZERO carries.  Coaching.  Drive 2 - Rico was playing great.   Did Canales lean into that or go for “balance”? Coaching. Drive 3 - ZERO carries.  Coaching  Drive 4 - 1 carry and opted for Jimmy Horn gadget rush (you can’t stick  with the Horn repetitive gadget runs each week and that’s not a better idea than getting Rico going)  Drive 5 - basically Dalton heavy as the half expired.  I don’t need to watch a game to know it’s coaching.  The gameplan wasn’t about setting Rico up to go off on a trash rush D.  It was bullshit harmony balance of the rush and the pass and making Hubbard feel good.
    • In the locker room after the Dallas game, multiple  players said FEED him when Canales mentioned Rico stats. That already made me think even the locker room wouldn't care if Rico got the touches rn. This is on Canales indeed and I agree n the Qb take.  We aren't winning  bc of Bryce  but he has been managing it. Had the Jets had Qb aptitude,  we could've probably  lost that game too. All they would've needed is 14 points. Regardless, we got a team  that's being built up and that position needs an overhaul.  If ww lock in to Bryce, it'd be no different  than the 49ers locking into Purdy. Can't do it!
