Halfway through the season, what were you most wrong about?

For me...

Offense: Robby Anderson. I questioned the signing. To me, he was just a one trick pony deep threat while we had a QB who wasn't well suited to capitalize on that. I was wrong. Robby Anderson is a damn good WR.

Defense: Phil Snow. I thought our D would be the worst in the league. Not one of the worst - THE WORST. I knew we primarily had a roster of unproven rookies and youngsters flanked by mostly vets off the trash heap. I thought Phil Snow was a guy who would get exposed at the NFL level and ultimately wouldn't work out. So far, I'm wrong about Phil Snow. Yeah, the D isn't great. Yeah, the D sucks on 3rd down. But all things considered, they're far outperforming what I expected.

Not much, but that is because I really didn’t come into this season with strong convictions about anything rather than me being correct.

Thought we were a 4-5 win team but we look like a 6-7 win team

Robby is more a complete WR1 than I thought.

DB has been much more effective as a pass rusher than I would have guessed.

Defense when healthy was far more respectable than I thought. Last 2 weeks is what I expected for the whole season but a lot of that can be put down to injuries and terrible depth which isn’t a surprise.

I thought we would suck a lot more than we do. Even in the losses, we have been competitive. Now, the wheels may come off down the stretch, but so far this coaching staff has shown me they have bigtime potential. They are putting a respectable product on the field that is comprised of a ton of subpar talent.

Looking at the roster I thought we would win maybe 2 or 3 games tops, and 0-16 was a real possibility.

I thought Teddy was going to be hit so many times that he would be playing like garbage.

I thought Okung would be mostly injured.

I thought Jackson would be mostly injured or picked on.

Offensively

1 I thought our O-line would be better.

2 I like the WR Corps of Anderson, Moore and Samuel.

3. I thought TB would perform better than he has.  I had my reservations about his down field passes and for the most part I'm correct.  With the speed we have and had we had a QB that could stretch the field our running game would be amazing.

Defensively

1.  Chinn is showing how great a pick he was.  Especially since the player he was most compared to Simmons is struggling to find his niche.

2. Our young DL is getting better game by game.

3. I'm not so down on our DBs as most are.  Considering the majority of our back end is rookies and Free Agents.  They are hanging in there. I think in year 2 or 3 of Rhule's realm our back end will become a strength.

4.  Probably the most disappointing is how we suck on 3rd down.  If we were middle of the road instead of bottom of the league we would be talking playoffs.   That said going back to #3.  The experience we are getting from our rookies will help out later.

tbh its pretty much what i expected.

I thought the offense might be a little better but overall i expected the youth on the team to flash. we would be competitive but we just wouldnt have the roster to win a bunch of games

i thought our offense would be amazing and that teddy would shine, but was just homerism fan thought. we have a good offense, not great.

I thought we would be talking number 1 pick in the draft this year with this team. But so far this team has exceeded my expectations.

it seems like this team is competitive we really don’t get blown out by other teams.

I thought the defense would be down right terrible!

offense wise we are doing about what I expected, the games I watched Robby Anderson play in over the years I knew he was a good receiver he just needed the chance with a decent QB and he could shine.

I wasn’t sure about Coach Rhule just because I don’t watch much college football and most college coaches don’t pan out to well in the NFL but so far so good.

I think if this team could get a blue chip MLB and safety and do some work on the O line we could be talking playoffs.

why this franchise never takes the o line seriously in the draft is mind blowing , I always thought you win championships in the lines offense and defense.

    • Do you honestly believe this is a team that will even be in contention for a playoff spot this year? To me, if you're not at minimum a genuine playoff caliber team, every win you get is a meaningless win in the end.  This is the NFL, it's not peewee league where you just want to win a few games and have fun, you want to get into the playoffs and have a shot at making a SB run. We haven't had a winning season in how many years?   Does "enjoying" a small handful of wins every year really make for an enjoyable season for you? I said it months ago and I'll say it forever, I don't care about winning or losing this year, as we don't have a playoff caliber roster yet and I'm a realist about where we are as a franchise.  I'd enjoy watching the games so much more if the team and Bryce in particular were just showing marked improvement, even if it came in losses.   Because THAT would give me hope for the future of the franchise and the direction we're going. Bryce was complete garbage in Week 1, in Week 2 he was terrible until the Cardinals went into super soft prevent defense and then collapsed gain when the game was in reach, and he was a serviceable game manager today, but didn't make any throws that any college QB couldn't make. This game was a perfect chance to let Bryce go out there and play loose because of the lead, just let him be himself and see if it sparks his college self.  But instead, we went unbelievably conservative with the play calling to help ensure the win, when actual wins and losses are the least of our worries this year, it's figuring out what Bryce can be (fans may be decided, but the team obviously has not yet).
    • Pretty fair assessment overall. I can’t say a lot since I didn’t watch but going by the comments I am betting he (Canales) was very conservative and a large reason would be to prevent Bryce giving it away half the day.
