So what will Tepper's expectations be next season?

Decisions are made based off what the GM recommends. I also believe with Fox and Rivera he had more say than he does with Rhule.

I cannot remember a draft that he hit the way we did in 2020 and I don't think that was a by accident.  I believe Rhule had far more say than Hurney usually gets.  No crazy trade ups for players that didn't work.

No,  decisions are made based on scouts, coaches and GM working together. Honestly I have no idea of who decided what or who had control. I.jusy know the dialogue all along was it was a team decision and everyone participated. Now with Gettleman I think the GM had a large say but I don't think that is necessary true with Hurney. To.hear Rhule talk he said Hurney had a big part in decisions this year but again how much is truth and how much is for the newspapers and reporters.

Damn I don’t know why I never realized Hurney wasn’t the GM for the 2001 draft.

Agreed but the GM and their scouts see much more of these guys than the coaches.  Look at all the wasted picks Hurney has done over the season.  Trading up for Everett Brown and almost trading up our 1st round pick for Clausen.  There is no way Fox or Rivera were on board with this.

What I feel with this team is Rhule and staff are calling the shots.  Not Hurney.  I don't think it was a coincidence that we did well in the draft and we had a new staff calling the shots.

I don't see anything changing at all really in terms of the team.

All the problems this year will be swept up in the broom that is Covid 19, new coaches staff, etc.

Tepper is a businessman. Perhaps more so that JR was. Things getting back to something close to normal and the balance sheet from the big mans office not in the red is likely all he cares about at this point.

I will guarantee you Tepper cares more about winning than JR did.

I don’t know many who wanted Teddy outside of the coaching staff embellishing his skill set. I still think we win a couple games to close out the year and seeing how we’ve been in every game outside of the TB games I’d say 6-10ish is decent. If you’ll remember, pretty much everyone thought we’d be the worst team in the league this year. That’s not even close to being true.

I don’t think you fire your coach and cut the best player in the history of your franchise to win an extra meaningless game.

Cam who’s had periods this year of playing great to terrible is going to win more games in NE with Byrd as his #1 WR. That’s how bad this Carolina team is right now if you need perspective.

If you look at what a healthy Cam did with Fun Fun and Ted Ginn in 2015 it’s not surprising. Doesn’t mean we are a “bad” team respectively. I just think the holes we do need to fill are gaping to say the least. Plug a couple of  pieces in place and our record could easily be flipped.

Do what it takes to get Lawrence or Fields. Sign Samuel...go to the playoffs.

NO - Brees could be done; Rebuilding

TB - Brady looks done.

    • After some of the calls last year probably won't see much of a drop off
    • https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/48344034/nfl-begin-hiring-replacement-officials-given-state-negotiations-nfl-referees-association   Honestly fug these refs and their union. Resisting changes that would actually incentivize good performance and not seniority based systems. What a bunch of donkeys. Hope the replacements straight up take their jobs and never give them back. Sick of watching refs script games with no repercussions.
    • Donovan seems like highest risk to me. Lloyd and May have already established relationships with all these kids. There’s probably guys hitting the portal that they recruited from HS. And then there’s the possibility of transferring their own guys from their current teams. They’ve also been recruiting the HS kids for like the next 5 years already. Look at the Iowa coach who hit the ground running by transferring all his guys from his D2 program. Or going across sports to Cignetti transferring all his JMU guys year one then building off that to a national title year 2. Donovan is starting from square one having been in the NBA so long and he’s already 60. So you’re potentially punting year 1 for a guy you are just hoping to be a 10 year hire while you figure out how to actually develop your next home grown 20yr guy. That’s 1/10th of the time you have him, more or less at best. The hope would be that he would find some high level assistants who have been working the college recruiting trails already, but then are you giving up his ideal staff just to get a foothold in recruiting and transfers. Think Belichick year one was bad? Imagine how much worse it would be without Steve Belichicks transfer portal pulls. Hoping Mays or Lloyd are all they’re cracked up to be.
