4th Quarter Joey Slye is abysmal

I'm not defending his lack of clutch ability but to look at all angles....what are the distances of those attempts? Just trying to understand those

I've seen people here mention the two 60 plus attempts shouldn't be held against him. Thats fair....though when you take those 2 out he's 1 of 4 from 50+ which is still one of the worst percentages in the NFL.

Still seeing a lot of excuses for a guy when Gano didn’t get a pass and was arguably more consistently clutch in tight game scenarios.

He was more consistent but he was also kept on the bench at times because Ron didn't think he could make a kick in the 40s. Thats as worrisome as a kicker who misses. Add in that contract when we had Butker and it was a recipe for a lot of discontent. I'm not mad at Gano, I'm mad at Hurney for paying him what he did with a rookie who looked just as good on our roster.

I love Ron but that might be more of a slight on him. Not trusting your kicker but keeping guys in past their prime is a little contradictory to say the least.

It makes that a lot more obvious when you see that he is 12 of 13 from 40+ this year(4 of 5 from 50+). A lot of things can directly be attributed to Ron being Ron.

Not to mention he had a string of bad luck with injuries. A healthy Gano has always been a beast. If he wasn’t healthy enough to get the job done that’s hardly his fault unless he is pulling a Cam and not being honest with himself or coaching/medical staff.

So he was injured every year but 2017 when his coach wouldn’t let him kick it 50 yds. When was he ever a “beast”?

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
