We’re three or four years away from even being a 7-win team. Maybe five, six or seven years away. Tanking every season for a good draft pick is a waste of time because your good players you strategically hold out every winter will either leave in free agency and join a team that tries to win, or you’ll have to overpay them to stay.

What’s Sewell gonna do? Protect Teddy and buy time to throw the ball in the stands again on third and goal?

Whats Trask/Wilson gonna do? Fight off getting sacked and throw it 50 times, have a decent year and get benched in December to maintain the losing streak?

We probably aren't that far away from being a competitive team but this offseason is critical. We appear to be ahead of the curve and, quite honestly, I don't see how anyone can be upset about this year. We competed in almost every game down to the wire, our young players flashed and the coaching staff appears to be learning.

Losing sucks but this is the part of the year where it is absolutely okay to lose. You WANT to lose these games so we CAN get an edge in the draft. That doesn't mean I want to see the team stop trying or the coaches stop coaching but, yeah, I absolutely want to see us take two straight L's.

We even got rid of Hurney! This may be the most excited I have been about the future of the Panthers in a long time.

Getting rid of Hurney is not enough for me. They’ve tried to sell moral victories to me for years and I’m not buying. I see no pathway this off-season that won’t lead to more 23-17, 31-24, 27-23 and 30-23 losses like every other year.

Tepper kept Hurney around too long. I fear he’s going to do the same with Rhule and until Rhule takes this team to the playoffs, the Super Bowl and wins some division titles — check that, until the team isn’t a laughingstock and a late-season prison bitch for opponents, I’m on record as saying he was a trash hire. Being folksy and playing the “aw shucks,” “former short-order cook” cards aren’t enough to dissuade me from the pitiful results.

I’m fine if others are more patient and consider it fair to approach it that way but for me, it’s put up or shut up time next year. If we’re a free win next year too, get Rhule out of here.

EDIT: and get Teddy out of here today.

I can’t share in this optimism because I have no faith in any of the people who are tasked with this franchise reset. Tepper has done nothing to impress me aside from getting an MLS team. Rhule has done nothing at all aside from  rampant dishonesty and clock management that would make 2011 Rivera blush.

The thing with a reset is you can be better than you were before, but you can also be far worse than you were before. Right now, they’re damn sure not better and I simply can’t have this optimism that anything will change until they prove it. I don’t buy the grifting.

We are just fans. I’m not going to try and sway you to think how I think. I respect that you don’t believe in these people. But to me, what we have done as a franchise for almost 30 years hasn’t worked. It’s time to do our own thing.

One big difference, Rivera got  blown out...a lot  he also never knew a  adjustment in his life and had he  Luke, Cam, Greg and Thomas would have a ring

tgere have been what, two blow outs under Rhule

rivera, the cuz h so loved by his players, they quit in him and then whined about his getting fired because their free ride was over

the Washington team will win Sunday and Ron can feel vindicated and hopefully, just hopefully the Ps there make the right QB decision and if you’ve hit that, your team has a chance. If they don’t make the right choice, they are finished

the 2000 Trent Dilfer era or even the joe flacco nfl is over

I hear you. And again, I’m fine with people who choose to buy in on the five-year plan or whatever Rhule/Tepper are selling. I’m just saying I’m not.

I mean....that seems a little unreasonable but I get the frustration.
