The Bridgewater Experiment... your thoughts

Now that year one of having Teddy at QB is in the books what are your thoughts on his future in Charlotte? While he has shown flashes he has also shown multiple reasons why the organization could be taking a QB in 2021.

Do we give him a pass due to CMC being out, for  Brady being in his first year as an actual play-caller, for the lack of a legit TE and a questionable o-line?

Love the dude, pulled for him all season.

Isn't the answer long term, and definitely hasn't shown to be worth the $24M tag for next season.

But if it means the team was in a position to grab a young guy for Teddy to help learn the playbook and how to be a pro, money well spent imo.

Hated the decision at the beginning and my plan to tank, keep comp picks, save a ton of cap to rollover and maximize our draft slot was 100% correct. Waste of yet another year because we gave away 3 comp picks, including the 3rd for Bradberry, and spent $60M in new cap for 2020 that’s gone forever. We got pick 8, maybe 7 and all we learned is that Teddy was as mediocre as many of us thought. Dude had possibly the best three WRs in the league and had 15 TDs. I’m fairly certain there were at least that many gifs showing Moore and Samuel wide open deep for easy TDs. If we had a solid QB with an arm, 30 passing TDs would have been a piece of cake.

Super happy we made the moves that would've peaked at 6 wins. And maybe 8 the next!!

So much of this year just leaves a sour taste and reeks of Hurney trying to save his job, convincing Brady to come (Teddy), or some ulterior motive that didn't have roster building or the future in mind.  We heard how it was going to be torn down, how it would be a process, etc...only to slap a bandaid on a gunshot wound.

I honestly feel like the staff did a GREAT job all things considered and am excited for the future, with the damper being the easily fixable mistakes so many of us screamed against yet were still made in the name of mediocrity.

Exactly the outcome I expected and, quite frankly, I don't know that he has any traits that should be passed on in a 'mentor' role. Dude is probably a great guy but is also as milquetoast a starting QB as I've ever seen on the field. Team needs to move on ASAP.

    • Or its more likely coordinators got film on him and turned the screws
    • I'm too lazy to make my own format so I am stealing yours.  Week 1: Sept. 8 at New Orleans  (W) 17-6 Running game and Derek Carr having a horrible opener gets the win. Week 2: Sept 15 vs. Los Angeles Chargers (L) 24-10 Hype from Week 1 goes away when Harbaugh and Herbert show up. Week 3: Sept 22 at Las Vegas  (W) 16-13 Complete defensive struggle but Panthers win on last minute FG.  Week 4: Sept. 29 vs. Cincinnati  (L) 30-13 Score is actually worse but Panthers score in garbage time. Week 5: Oct. 6 at Chicago (L) 21-10 Horrible performance by Bryce in a winnable game and even his fans start to think he's not it, press conference questions get worse and calls for benching intensifies.  Week 6: Oct. 13 vs. Atlanta (L) 20-17 Running game becomes 70% of offense to help Bryce, it works but can't get job done at the end. Week 7: Oct. 20 at Washington  (W) 21-14 Running game/defensive comes through; Bryce does okay. Week 8: Oct. 27 at Denver (L) 27-7 Complete offensive collapse. Week 9: Nov. 3 vs. New Orleans (L) 30-24 Saints keep shooting themselves in the foot but we provide them a turnover-fest and they come back in the 2nd half.  Week 10: Nov. 10 vs. N.Y. Giants (Munich, Germany) (L) 24-6 Worse offensive performance of our season. Week 11: Nov. 17 BYE Week 12: Nov. 24 vs. Kansas City (L) 34-31 OT Dalton takes over for Bryce to try to salvage season. Plays close game; gives team a slight bump. Week 13: Dec. 1 vs. Tampa Bay (W) 28-27 Dalton has nice game. Canales beats his former team in a stunner.  Week 14: Dec 8 at Philadelphia (L) 27-14 Tough crowd, tough game, run out of gas in the 4th.  Week 15: Dec: 15 vs. Dallas (L) 31-24 This will be out "worse officiated game of the year." and we will all accuse the NFL of trying to get the Cowboys in the postseason. Week 16: Dec. 22 vs. Arizona (W) 26-10 Solid win by Dalton and co.  Week 17: Dec. 29 at Tampa Bay (W) 12-10 Canales sweeps his former team and knocks them out of the postseason in an absolute rain fest. Week 18: Jan. 4 or 5 at Atlanta (L) 28-20 Close game but Atlanta holds us off.    Panthers finish 6-11. Dalton's mediocre performance shows just how bad Young really was. Panthers start the search for the next QB.
    • Want to see something crazy?  Look in Bryce stats after Dallas game.  They parked Bryce and told him to play conservative. Bryce first 9 games: 9 TDs, 8 Int, ~1,600 total yards.   Bryce last 8 games: 2 TD, 2 Int, ~1,600 total yards.  With just 1 game over 200 yards passing.  If you remove that game… Bryce is 0 TDs, 2 Int, and 1,300 total yards in 7 games. Just disaster the way the handled him.  Dude regressed as the season went on.  He took zero chance.  Just stayed in the pocket and got pounded.
