Absolutely no on Jones. I like him even less than Lance. Taking Jones at 8 would set this already poor franchise back even further.

I think the concern is that he was surrounded by just incredible talent so it makes it hard to watch his film.   At this point I am just going to trust the coaches and their evaluation

Mac Jones is playing football with the first wide receiver to win the Heisman since Desmond Howard... who won the award for his return ability. This dude is winning because he’s a monster. And while he got attention this season he was a monster last year too. More often than not this dude has yards of separation when running routes.

When he isn’t throwing the to best WR in the country he can hand off to the best running back in the country. In their biggest games of the year it’s been Harris who takes over the games more than Smith.

When he doesn’t have the easy job of just throwing to wide open Smith or handing off to Harris who can outrun, truck or jump over people, he has all the time in the world to scan the field. His offensive line just won best offensive line in the country. 
 

Take Mac Jones off Bama and replace him with Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Trask, Newman... and they probably still dominate on offense and are undefeated. Then look at the pro prospects: Jalen Hurts absolutely sucks. Tua absolutely sucks. And both of these guys got multiple years of real game action at Bama. Mac Jones has this one year and he has no elite traits. No cannon for an arm. No great wheels. Just the absolute best surrounding cast in college football. 
 

If Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Trask, Lance account for 0 scores in a game they either lose big or the game is super tight. He throws 0 touchdown passes against Tennessee and they win 48 to 17 with his 31 pass attempts. He throws 0 touchdowns against Arkansas and they win 52-3 on his 29 throws. 
 

He’s not an elite QB. He’s in an elite situation that most dudes would thrive in. In their past four games, Smith and Harris have accounted for all but 1 of Alabama’s touchdowns.

While that is true it doesn't mean the QB isn't good. You can't excuse one QB for the bad play of his receivers and dock another when they are elite. You have to scout the player individually and that is what the pros will do in the coming months.

Which is why he for sure isn’t going to be our pick at 8. He isn’t going top 10.

Miami’s GM just said Tua is their guy, so this is very possible. Only problem is, many teams will want to trade up as well, hopefully it’s we wouldn’t have to give up too much more than what this writer is guessing.

I think Tua is probably significantly better than Mac Jones and is struggling in the NFL without those receivers.

I think Tua is struggling physically. He's a shadow of himself from before that hip injury.
