Saints likely get a comp 3rd Rounder bc of the Teddy Bridgewater signing (Plus good news)

I don't want to pile on the anti-Teddy train but his signing by us will likely net the Saints a 3rd rounder comp pick.  Take a gander:

On the plus side, big Vern should net us a 5th so with that (edit) we have two 5th rounders which could come into play in trades.

Comp picks are stupid for that reason. I'd be happy if we could trade him for a 5th rounder and Saints get a 3rd for just letting the scrub walk.

Don't blame the comp pick formula. We just signed a backup QB to a really stupid contract.

So yea, the value of those two fifth round picks is probably just about enough for us to trade back up . . . into the middle of the fourth round.

So in hindsight, we could have had an extra 3rd, 4th, and 6th, another $40m in cap space and would probably be picking in the 3-5 range.

I think so. I believe we used that pick to move up and get Chinn
