Dolphins' GM commits to Tua in '21

Unless there is more to the quote (and I did open the article and look), it seems like a leap to say he meant they would not consider drafting a QB. He didn’t say he’s their starter in 2021, he just said he’s their starter, period, as in right now. Which he is. They may not be interested in drafting a QB, who knows, but this quote does nothing to clear that up. What he said means absolutely nothing.

When the cardinals draft ROsen 10th overall and the next year pick Murphy #1, it changed the league. Cause before that was considered wrong, they had success which no one thought they could. Panthers did this is a sense of back-to-back first picks used on QBs; pickles and Cam. Phins could flip Tua to a team for a 1st and take a QB that feel is better. Phins are the team that gave a late 2nd for ROsen, so they have exp in this wild wild draft stuff.

People keep referencing that, but the situations are vastly different. Rosen played most of the year and looked absolutely abysmal, one of the worst qbs in the league. The Cardinals had the #1 pick; they got to pick a stud, the consensus best prospect in Kyler Murray. They weren't going to give up that chance. That's like if the Jets held onto the 1st pick and said "Nah we got Darnold. We're good."

The Dolphins had Tua starting for half a season. He was coming off a horrific injury and many expected him to take a year to get back in the full swing. He also had no offseason in the era of COVID. And while he had some really bad games, he also showed promise in a few. Meanwhile the Dolphins would be in position to get the 3rd best qb in this draft with no guarantees he'll be any good. Giving up on your anointed franchise qb who is just getting acclimated for a complete question mark when you have the opportunity to get him a major weapon instead makes little sense. Comparing it to Rosen, whom they had minimal commitment at 10, was part of the old coaching regime and never looked even 1/3 as good as Tua is not the same.

The main reason for Murray pick was they hired his college HC. Many thought he was too short for QB, especially at 1st overall. Smarty Marty had Will "fcuking" Grier rated above Kyler Murray, its been a running joke around here. Other teams had him behind QBs. It was the first time in history a team used back-to-back top ten picks on a QB. I think the giants used a supplemental 1st on a QB and 1st rounder on an QB, but not sure of that. 10th overall is big time pick and not meant for to be wasted on in less than one year. 

They could easily seen enough of Tua and have Fields/Lance/WIlson rated higher. Some team picking in the mid first could throw out a 1st and get them thinking. Not for nothing but Fitz is the better QB right now and out-played him with the weird year and his injury. Im not going to totally believe its not possible, very very unlikely for sure.

The rookie Salary Cap changed how the Draft operates.

If you make a mistake at #1 overall you're not hamstrung for the next 4 years. Obviously moreso if that mistake is #10 overall.

 The Cardinals saw that Rosen was a mistake and quickly rectified it. It's not ideal, but it's doable.

The Cardinals didn't draft Nick Bosa.

True. I remember when Bill Parcells was trying to trade the 1st overall pick, he said teams where asking for "what else are you going to give me?" "we need more picks to take the 1st"!! LOL, it was a negative to have the first overall pick. He had to keep and hated the process of negotiations with the player. They ended up with Jake Long mainly cause he agreed to terms before the draft.  

I think its time to call it for Rosen, he's an XFL backup. Killed the HC Steve Wilks in one year too and hes out of league currently.
