Kinda feel sorry for Drew Brees

When Brees was in his prime, Saints defense was unable to hold up and it cost them several times in the post season.  When the Saints defense got good, Brees wasn't able to make plays down the stretch to win the game. No way would I expect him to lose his final 3 playoff games at home to teams they were favored to beat.

After watching that game, Drew clearly can't throw downfield anymore. They were down with less than 5 minutes to play and the Saints were running the ball on first and second down. I don't think he threw a pass more than 20 yards downfield. Now, he walks off the field for probably for the last time...knowing that his last two passes in the NFL were interceptions at home against a team they really should have beat. Without the benefit of the 4 turnover (3 Int's by Brees and a fumble) Tampa would have lost this game.

During that 6 year stretch from 2008-2013 you could make an strong argument that he was the best QB in football. He had a great run. I'm sure he'll be ok in retirement.

As a fan of a sport, sucks to see him go out like that but I hold respect for him as a player and he got me super interested in the QB position when I was first getting into the sport.

I'm trying to remember the last big time quarterback I saw go out with a happy ending. Was probably Elway.

It doesn't happen often.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
