There have been numerous studies looking at the economic impact of publicly funding stadiums. I'm not aware of a single one that found it to be a positive use of funds.

And how many were built in a completely undeveloped downtown area in the fastest growing city in the US? And how many will be able to completely redevelop the current stadium location with office towers, condos, apts?  Look at the parcel that is being built directly across from the stadium.  5 towers on a footprint smaller than the stadium.

im not convinced he is moving to buy....the CPF family just getting set up to be ready

SC is going to have a HUGE say in all of this before it is over

one thing i do feel certain of, tepper wants a spaceship stadium so he can host a super bowl, & he will build it in SC if CLT doesnt give him what he wants

i dont think any of this moves forward until the complex down in Rock Hill is finished

Have you ever looked at the host city requirements for hosting a SB?

Rock hill would never be able to meet them.

Mental gymanstics aside, actual economic analysis from actual economists have to my knowledge universally concluded it's a losing proposition for municipalities.

We don’t need a new stadium.

Tepper disagrees. I'm thinking Tepper will buy Carowinds and tear it down, build a stadium and Panther Park, with fewer rides, but the rides will bear the names of Panther greats...the Kuechly Coaster and Peppers Parachute Drop...stuff like that.

That would be wack LOL.

rock hill doesnt have to...it would clt even if stadium is in SC

i read (not thoroughly) the doc with what the nfl requires...it is an absurd listing of free, free, free suites, food, hotels, cash, etc

the city would be crazy to agree

I'm still bullish on the stadium staying uptown.  To attract the events to keep the stadium booked, you need the surrounding area to be a destination and desirable spot.  Plus Tepper's support of the development of Graham street falls in line. You have the Hornets, Knights, Panthers, and soon to be Football Club all in the same zone.  I wouldn't move.

Tep would lose a lot of goodwill in clt and NC if he moves the team.

If the stadium and HQ are both in SC, then it would be viewed as a SC team.

Calling CLT the host city when the game is played in a different state is a stretch, and I don’t see CLT going along and paying that bill to ‘host’ a SB that it really wouldn’t be hosting.

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
