Cam Newton/Tepper/Watson

Anyone think Watson could ask Cam about Carolina.  And the way the way things down went with our FO and Cam may turnoff Watson?

Watson looks up to Cam as a big brother.  Both growing up in Atlanta.  Watson played on Cam's sponsored 7on7 team before he even went to Clemson.  Cam was a little sour about Tepper and Rhule this past offseason, and its still pretty Fresh.  Could Watson call Cam up about coming here, and advise him not too?

Just something else to think about

Anyone think Watson could ask Eric Reid about Carolina? We know he's really into social justice and all that jazz, and Tepper is the only one who took a shot on Reid, allowed the kneeling and is a very socially aware person, especially when compared to all the other owners. Could Watson call Eric up about coming here, and advise him to?

The fallout of that in Carolina would create more pressure on getting a great QB asap. It would suck but I can't say it's not a possibility.

It really is amazing what is important and unimportant to each player and team. So hard to predict.

Hopefully Hurney gets the blame and not Rhule & Tepper.

Call Eric Reid that he's probably met once or twice.

Or call up the guy who he consider's his big brother, who's he's looked up to since he's been a little kid?

If Watson does ask Cam about the Panthers, I'm sure he's going to be salty when explaining to him about how things went down with Tepper, but he ultimately will let Watson be the judge.

Yeah I think if Deshaun did talk to Cam about Carolina, Cam would just tell it like it is 100%. Of course he wasn't happy with how it ended here but at the end of the day both these guys know it's a business. Cam doesn't seem to be the type to harbor ill will towards Tepper.

Cam Newton is washed as a high level NFL QB.  Can anybody blame the Panthers for moving on from him after the performance he put on tape last season?  The man started the entire season for New England, then threw 8(!!!) TD passes....and he looked quite pathetic most of the time doing it.

Turns out the team was correct in parting ways with him.  If Cam is still salty about that, then that is on him.  And this is coming from one of the biggest Cam fans around.

The way it was handled I think is the main issue. They reportedly weren't very transparent with Cam...

    • It's crazy with how much winning was going on when we had a little cool off period that we're still just a couple games out of 6th. Moussa is getting better every week and Coby is getting comfortable. Would be nice to get to 6 but I think this team is a lot more stacked than the last couple play ins. I can't remember the exact rules but if you're 7th seed and win the first game I think you automatically move on and don't have to play the second game?
    • I think it was a thing for sure. Panthers weren’t too many people’s first choice. Or 5th choice.  2022 and 2023… coaches fired mid season. Consecutive years. You want any of that?  He has definitely overseen a rehab of how the Panthers are perceived. Because we are a place that is seen as up and coming. And just the little thing of he accommodated Theilen so graciously, that gets noticed. It all adds up. Dan is doing a lot of things right, probably most things.  Needs a good draft.
    • K, I think that is dumb, but you do you. I didn't find anything online that made him out to be a dislikable person. I am certain the Panthers would have cared so much if they lost your fandom if they hired Sean Payton. But bet you would have come crawling back if Sean lead us to a Super Bowl victory or Golden leads UNC to a champion ship. It is easy to say you are gonna leave a team if the hire someone you dislike when the chips are down. But people like you tend to come crawling back once the team finds success.
