As a Mississippi State season ticket holder who has seen major talent on defense go high, I completely disagree on Kylin Hill being top 50. He isn't terrible but if he is selected before the third someone needs to be fired. His flaws keep him from being great. He has no breakaway speed. He dances too much and never fights for the extra yard, preferring to go out of bounds. He is a terrible pass blocker. Lastly he was kicked off the team. I wouldn't touch him. He has malcontent and headcase written all over him.

You can go crazy thinking like that.  I have seen jones compared to Rosen, Lance compared to J Allen, Baker Mayfield compared to Russell Wilson---but I have seen more comparisons between Wilson and Mahommes than Pickles.  Yet I get it--you get that in your head and it changes the way you think.

Verge, I would like to hear more about Trey Hill.  You seem very high on him.  I have seen him in round 3-6 on similar boards, but when I watched video, I could see little separation between him, Myers, and Humphries--but you did not include Myers--Myers to me is interesting because he has also played G, and he could play LG for a season, get some experience, and take Paradis' job in 2022.

I'm glad I'm not the only one laughing at so many mock simulators that have Paris Ford and Trey Hill outside the top 150 guys.

I really want Hill, think he is a absolute monster inside. Worst case he is a 10 year RG, best he is all pro center. Dude really has only a few little downsides (not the most athletic guy to play the spot, and sometimes isn't perfect as a second level blocker), but he controls the line in both phases.

Also I think Terrance Marshall Jr is better than the last few wr on you top 50. He got to be #3 on a loaded squad so got less looks and then instantly went to a baby faced team that wasn't as good at qb. Still did good/great in both situations for a young college guy.

I'm really curious as to your next 50 (top 100).  There are several guys I like that I feel are in that 50-75 range.

The problems with Wilson are his footwork and his level of competition. I question some of his decision making too - but don't question his arm / ball placement / accuracy.

He's a guy you'd love to sit for a year if you take him - physically he can do it all.

Not to be THAT guy, but you've just compared Mac Jones to a 'better' Andy Dalton.

Do you really have a 10 year NFL starter, 3 time Pro Bowler with over 30k yards and nearly a 2:1 TD:INT ratio as your 49th best prospect? That just seems nuts.

I mean as a prospect coming out of TCU...

if we are able to sit tight at 8 and get Lance with no future 1st trade shenanigans, I'll have full chub for the rest of the off season.

Adam Caplan was on whatever radio I was listening to in the car this evening. He said it seemed Lance was a second half of the first round guy from his sources.

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
