No matter what moves we make this offseason, we should be in a healthy spot this year, and GREAT shape next year. We currently sit a little above 35 million after we gained money from the Matt Paradis restructure.

Does this mean we subtract the dead cap money from the cap space giving only about 8.5 M cap space?

Yea it’s kind of skewed to just look at available space but it’s still not great considering - when looked at overall we are in top 3 worst with Rams and Eagles.

Not to say the future isn’t bright because it is but you can’t look at this being 5-11 and be happy probably won’t next year either unless were a winning team...then this franchise will look pretty decent. At least 8-8.

Hurney was fired by his secret elderly lover once...for a reason. It took A LOT for that to happen. You rehire him this is what you get, the same reason.

At least it’s finally come to an end.

Good points but it’s a good starting point. At least this isn’t like after Hurneys first stint where we were in a deep hole when Gettleman started, and had to hear about shopping at the dollar store compared to Tiffany’s for multiple years.

    • Yep and that is why teams have different boards.     I would refine the lower valued position limitation mentioned here to the bottom quarter or third of the first round. There are a lot of really good players at these low value positions taken from right around where we pick and later. All positions I guess.  For us, some highlights  Gamble @ 28 Beason @ 25 Kelvin Benjamin and DJ Moore went late too but man I’d be fine with trading aback a little and getting a Beason level player.
    • AND the last time we took a TE from Chicago that hadn't quite lived up to draft status it was Greg Olsen... bring this on nah
    • Guys let's not lose sight of the goal here. Ironically Dave Canales buddy Pete Carroll is a good example. In his later years with the Seahawks they "made the playoffs". Never went anywhere. Pete left town with his best friend Geno Smith and immediately proceeded to faceplant. Meanwhile the Seahawks hired a new coach traded away their best WR and signed Sam Darnold and they are your Super Bowl champions. Just because we backed our way into the playoffs going winless against New Orleans and barely splitting with the imploding Bucs for a 4-6 record in the last 10 games with the 26th passing offense does not mean we should be having a parade. Dave Canales team needs to take control of the division in 2026. Simple and plain.
