I can only assume many here weren't following the NFL in the decade of 2000 becuase it was commonly said that Warner was great with anticipation and accuracy vs arm strength.

After a full season of watching what we had behind center last year I just want to see a quarterback capable and willing to move the ball. In that aspect particularly when it counts.

All that matters is if he can help the team. Draft talk is hindered greatly by petty bias revolving around whichever college a prospect played for. This franchise is not at all in a position to be very picky. The uphill battle for regaining competitiveness within the division is one that will take time no matter which route we decide to take at quarterback. Make sure we get the right football player and leave all the other nonsense at the door.

Its always more difficult to assess their ability to play in the NFL.  Of course, because they get so much talent, they get more players in the NFL.  Which is why I would never want to be an NFL scout.

Warner didn't take a snap until 27 basically. As a Ram he had a great arm, and the lone scouting report of him gave him top grades for his arm strength. Whether or not his arm strength was elite it was above average.

Brees has never had a cannon of an arm. Neither has Brady. Neither did Montana.

38 year old Super Bowl/Cardinal Warner might not of had a cannon.  

Greatest Show on Turf Warner most definitely did not have a Chad Pennington arm.

      I always just go back to what I said at the time. Trade Burns to the Rams because it's a fantastic deal. I was screaming it. I'm still angry at Fitt over that. Right after he turned down the deal I said he needed to get into a time machine and go back and make the deal. Hate that dude. Ruined our team. Trading D.J was a major mistake because what matters most in the NFL is the passing game, so you never unload a proven #1 WR when there are other options. Always trade a defensive player over a WR if you have that option available. Fitt was precious about defensive players when we had a passing offense that didn't function. That's how know he was completely incompetent. The passing offense is the top priority, so until that is functioning all defensive players are possible trade fodder. At this point we're in a rebuilding year under a new GM and a QB who looks absolutely horrendous. It makes perfect sense, if you follow all of our moves, that we would be the worst team in the NFL. Of course we are. You can't screw up as a GM that many times over the years and not ruin the franchise. We're exactly where we should be, dead last, or bottom 3. Whichever you like. But this is the here and now. Dan did a good job getting our 2nd round pick back, and we won't know about the picks until they take the field in regular season games. We're in dark until then, but if they suck the Panthers media will hide it shamelessly. Remember when Young was supposed to be a football genius? Yeah he was rancid turds out there when live fire started. There is some hope. Either Young improves and we win more games, or he stays about the same and we draft a new QB in 2025. Either way the NFL will help us out of this jam, but all we need is for Dan not to screw it up.
