I agree with you there. He’s a pick you swing for the fences with.

Like you, I was a massive Fields fan heading into last season and thought we would be bad enough to be I king either him or Fields. I still really like Fields and he’s my 3rd favorite but his up and down season cooled me off on him a bit. Would happily take either, but given the choice, I find myself really leaning towards Lance’s potential now

I think that some of you are not projecting into the future far enough.

I've said it all along, all Lance needs is more reps! I reject this notion of the lowest floor. I mean, if you want to say he has the temporary lowest floor, fine! Sure, he'll have to take his lumps (as they all will), but once he gets some experience under his belt, you'll see his real floor: the penthouse! The thing with Lance is that the sky is the limit. With his traits and football IQ, the only thing I see messing him up is injury or  crappy coaching.

Why would they ever say otherwise? Goff has $43M guaranteed in 2021 and 2022. It really would be tough to keep that as a backup and they need to actually see the guy play. I’d be really surprised if they took a guy to sit at least 2 years before even seeing what they have in Goff who also signed for 4 more reasonable years if he’s the starter.

If they had a late 1st rounder then I could see the Rodgers, Love or Jackson type of situation with a not ready to retire starter in front. At 7, that’s a really big investment for a guy to potentially sit for a while. You’re talking about giving up maybe your LT for a decade or a stud WR to help your $43M guaranteed starter.

This guy gets it.  Same with ATL, there is a lot of money on their books for the next 2 years.  Cincy isnt going anywhere at 5 because they can get teh best LT in the draft and Philly is rolling with Hurts.  Its looking likely that we may have a choice of 2 of the top 4.

The reason his floor is so low right now is because he has played nobody and thrown few passes most games that nobody knows how he will fair against real NFL competition. Injury could derail him but every prospect has that risk. Crappy coaching? I don’t think so. What will mess him up if anything is going to be his adjustments to the speed of the NFL. He wasn’t playing against Power 5 athletes. The speed he plays against now in his conference isn’t touching the speed at which players react and play at in the power 5. And then it’s a significant jump to the pros how quickly everything happens.

Will he take his lumps and grow or will it eat him up? He only played starting QB for one season where they blew the doors off people due to a great running game and defense. They went undefeated. There was only one real tight game where they won like 9-3 or 6-3 and he wasn’t asked to carry that game.

There’s just so much risk taking a player like this that you have to be certain he’s the long term guy and he can learn fast.

To be fair, when I say he might have the lowest floor, I really mean out of the top 8 QBs in the draft or so.

I can certainly see his floor being lower than Mond or Mac Jones. But I can also see the ceiling being higher than Lawrence or Wilson or Fields

I’ll take that bet.

Yeah, we are going to have to closer to the draft and see what happens with Watson and to a lesser degree Russell but I am pretty confident QBs will definitely go 1-4.  Check back later.

Right now...I am definitely sure Trevor, Wilson and Lance go in the top 4.  Fields not completely sure yet but his upside tells me yes.

Just watched the video.  I have watched some of his highlights and read what is available about him.  I like this guy.

He seems to be a guy that has a chip on his shoulder, really invests a lot of work in his craft and also his a fantastic teammate. His intangibles seem to be very good.

I think he is a guy that you can expect to continue to put in the work and get better and better.

Decision making is decision making. A throw is a throw. Traits are traits! The ability to not only read defenses, but call your plays in a pro-style offense translates to the pros.

But it’s not the same. Decision making when you know you can outrun 99% of every pass rush is a lot easier than making decisions under duress. Gaps close quicker in the NFL. He will be under pressure quicker. He will have to make those decisions quicker. That’s what needs to be seen. Can he make a good read when he doesn’t feel pressure? Most of this draft class does. As far as calling your own plays in a pro style offense? They all figure out calling plays in the pros without much issue. Oregon spent days turning to the sideline looking at playcaller and Justin Herbert is fine. I’d be shocked if any of these kids have trouble calling plays.
