Saying that a QB is the only reason teams win is not the same as saying we needed better QB to win more games last year as evidenced by the actual score and the poor quarterback production, don't be goofy

Teddy is reason for all the Ls, ask people around here. Not like the defensive can prevent scoring. Watson was the only reason for the 4 wins. 12 loses are on the defensive, special teams, coaches, and well the ground keepers did cut the grass short enough.

turnaround? we already suck and have for a while. the texans had 10 wins the year before last and 11 wins the year before that. I bet they are much worse after watson is gone though.

If we trade for Watson and fug up in free agency with the holes we would have at best of draft picks lost then that would require another turn around.

Look I hope it works and we don't do a ridiculous deal and get a great QB. Yeah Houston had winning seasons but they also were weak as hell in the playoffs for years and then started making really bad decisions that resulted in 4 wins with a good QB. I hope it's better but the fact is it is possible it gets worse. All we can do is see how it shakes down, there are zero guarantees that are not in contracts.

Deshaun Watson has almost the same exact record with the Houston Texans since he got there as opposed to the four years before he got there, including 1-2 in the playoffs before he got there, and 1-2 in the playoffs since he’s been there…

Watson is viewed by many people as one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, and there is no record to point that out. If you look at Aaron Rodgers, every year he’s healthy in the NFL with the exception of the year that Mike McCarthy got fired, his teams won 10 games. Same thing with Tom Brady, same thing with Drew Brees, same thing with ALL these guys…  Watson somehow gets a pass, when no other quarterback gets a pass for their win/loss record.

You can sit here and pound into the table that Watson is great and that he needs more help. Well, he might have gotten more help if he didn’t sign this gargantuan contract..

Watson is massively, MASSIVELY overrated… It’s really amazing how Teflon that dude is… Was it Bill O’Brien’s fault? Sure. It’s also Deshaun Watson’s. Deshaun Watson is NOT a top 10 quarterback. You are not a top 10 quarterback at 4-11.

There's a lot of truth in this.

Build around Watson with what? The draft picks you're trading to acquire him? Lol

How long do you think Watson will be a Panther in this situation?

We'll have time to build through free agency and with remaining picks.  And we can only trade picks 3 years out, and Watson would be the equivalent of our 1st this year, anyway.  So we'll see.

I’m going to assume we won’t have enough ammo left in the tank to get them to include Tunsil after we’ve given them everything for Watson but damn, it would solve our then next biggest problem

Yeah, that worked out so well for Houston. Everybody keeps talking about how bad Houston is and want us to do the same thing. So Watson can bitch and whine and want out in 2 years?

This desperately needs context. The Texans had a dominant D pre-Watson.

Texans defensive ranking by year:

2013 - 7th

2014 - 16th

2015 - 3rd

2016 - 1st

2017 - 20th

2018 - 12th (11-5)

2019 - 28th

2020 - 30th

The average ranking in the four years prior to Watson was 6.75. The average ranking in Watson's four years was 22.5.

    • Can tell you guys don’t watch games outside of panthers . He’s a trash coach . Coty means nothing lol
    • im a big believer in strong  o lines in general and really strong  olines for not so strong  QBs and we have one if those not so strong  QBs, plus with one LT done for the year and another that is aging with knee issues, a versatile tackle, on a rookie contract for the second most important position on the team, is a good thing    from cat crave Dean Jones    “If Francis Mauigoa (Miami) made it this far down the pecking order, it would be a difficult proposition to turn down.   The Miami prospect might not have the prototypical length associated with premier offensive tackles, but you wouldn't know it. His pass protection is exceptional, which is matched by a strong base on running plays and enough athleticism to make a difference at the second level when opportunities arise. Mauigoa can play either tackle with ease. This makes him a short-term replacement for Ekwonu and a potential long-term successor to Moton. And if fans don't think this is possible in the first round, they haven't been paying close enough attention.”   Excerpt From “Carolina Panthers 7-round 2026 NFL mock draft: Pushing forward edition” Cat Crave https://apple.news/AYEo7NKteR6mIGHtthRnzZQ This material may be protected by copyright.
    • I don't know their cap situation, but if they're able to pick up Malik Willis or Mac Jones, they could be trouble. Hell, they were only one game worse than us last year. If Cousins had played all season, who knows?
