Less than a 0% chance he is coming here

Unless some major news happens to drop these charges I don’t see it. If these women were assaulted I hope they get their peace and Watson pays the price. As for us, on to plan B. Trade up for Fields or Lance.

Can we stop attacking potential victims of sexual misconduct now just because we really want the defendant to play for a sports team that we like?

I can understand having reasonable doubts in cases like this, but if your whole rationale basically boils down to "I don't believe them because I want Deshaun to play for the Panthers", you seriously need to ask yourself some questions.

Think of OJ Simpson as an example. The police had enough evidence to charge him and take him to criminal court. When judgement was passed he was found not guilty by a jury of his peers. However, perception and circumstantial evidence clearly showed that he probably was guilty (I think that he was) and that led to the civil lawsuit that found him guilty. The judgement was a financial penalty that he is still paying, or will pay for the remainder of his life.

Fwiw you’re trying to prove a point with a lot of false equivalence to people who are generally unworthy of proving anything to because, in their minds, they are never wrong and Watson is already guilty of at least something.

Murder =/= inappropriate comments or even unwanted/rebuked sexual advances, including but not limited to inappropriate touching and even what equates to rape in exchange for not sabotaging someone’s livelihood.

It sounds absolutely terrible, yes. But he hasn’t been accused of murder.

He also hasn’t had a trial or fled capture.

What he has done is come out almost immediately defend himself and disclose the initial offering of a settlement. That’s it.

I’m not going to say Watson is innocent of anything. But I’m going to let the facts come out.

The timing is very suspect, as is this lawyer’s past and his allegiances.

Also, Houston as an organization doesn’t have a spotless record.

Seriously and if these cases stick are we really going to buy/wear a Watson jersey as fans? What kind of message would that send to victims of sexual assault. Unless something groundbreaking happens to expose (no pun intended) this lawyer and his cases we really need to move on.

Who is attacking them? All I see is some doubt, and a hell of a lot of posters drooling over the thought of Watson being guilty of something.

The amount of posters attacking these women's character with garbage like pushing that this is a conspiracy by McNair (dude can barely keep his head out of his ass but he can orchestrate an elaborate (and risky) scheme?), that these women are questionable for advertising their masseuse services via social media (like it isn't an effective and low cost marketing vector), and other equally stupid poo is foul.

Again, some of the women involved in this story are state licensed massage therapists. As was pointed out, that's not an easy thing to become. And if it were true, that would be a pretty easy thing to figure out.

Even in criminal cases, nobody says "well if there isn't video, there's no evidence". That'd be an absolutely ridiculous standard for courts to follow.

And no, it isn't true in civil cases either. Not should it be.

Well there is this thing regarding the concept of evidence of a crime or witness testimony for criminal proceedings.
First person testimony would be vital, but this would need to include some form of proof.  Hearsay is not allowed in court as a basis for a conviction.

The burden of proof is on the DA to show that a testament is accurate and supported by evidence. The DA can bring in a character witness to assist in swaying a jury to support a charge that has circumstantial evidence.

Most DA’s often prefer open and shut cases, or those that have a preponderance of evidence and testimony that should lead to a conviction.

if the DA’s office doesn’t pursue this, then that would speak volumes.

However, If this stays as a civil matter, then this will affect Deshaun financially and tarnish his reputation. This will affect him whether he is guilty or not.

I will say that it is not a death blow as there was a guy named Ray Lewis that was accused of murder and found not guilty. I think that he went on to finish his career and be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

Calling all the accusers escorts that are lying just to make a payday does seem like an attack to me.

Mcnair would literally lose his team overnight and then be sued into oblivion by Watson.  No effing way he would do that as some (moronic) posters are suggesting

Is this a genuine question? There are plenty of instances on this board and in this thread, if it is. Hell. Page 4 would be a good start where insinuating that advertising masseuse services on IG is shady as if social media is not a cheap and effective way to market a private business.

    • I'm not a Bryce hater and I would 100% move on.  Especially looking at how the upcoming qb draft looks on paper.  Hopefully he continues to improve but if in 3 seasons you're still chasing average season numbers then he's not going to be the guy.  You've just got to keep taking swings until you hit.  Average qbs without any elite physical traits cant get it done anymore.  So this year Hopefully he continues to develop and is above average statistically.
    • Meltdowns???? He was pulled by Canales because he wasn't executing the game plan after 2 games into the season so he could watch Dalton execute the offense and show Bryce the windows available in the NFL, how to push the ball down the field and how to step up and move around when blitzed. When Young came back 5 games later he clearly watched and improved. Enough he was named the future starter. He doesn't have a history of  meltdowns nor is there any reason to assume he will have one. From what I have read he is mentally strong and emotional stable. He may have bad games down the road, everyone does. But this is all a learning experience for him and so far he seems to be making progress. I can understand being hesitant on anything Panthers, but Young has surprisingly been able to gain his confidence after a disastrous start. You aren't alone in being cautious but I think he is the future. I thought he was too small and too short to succeed in the NFL. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised last year and am optimistic about the offense for the first time since Wilks and Dalton were decent.
    • The Rams wanted to trade up for Williams who they ended up within the end. They even told him that when they called him to let him know he is the pick. The other teams are only an assumption. Like the Cowboys, who took a guard. The truth is the team wanted to trade down first and foremost but couldn't get an offer the were happy with. They took McMillan because they felt he was bpa at 8 plain and simple.
