Dead Money

Name Cap Number
Teddy Bridgewater $17,000,000
Kawann Short $11,017,000
Luke Kuechly $7,130,000
Stephen Weatherly $2,000,000
Graham Gano $1,537,500
Michael Palardy $500,000
Zach Kerr $250,000
Kenny Robinson $249,150
Jordan Scarlett $155,300
TOTAL $39,930,049

Thank you, Hurney.  But to be fair, we can't lay Luke's dead cap at Hurney's feet.  Other than that, well done, Marty, well done...

Well why did they offer a 7th if not?

Because Carolina carrying salary was almost assuredly always a mandatory condition, even if the dollar amounts varied at varying times. Denver 'compromised' by moving up from a 7th to a 6th. That contract value was unpalatable to anyone in its current-year value.

It's kind of like with the Rams and Lions did with Goff (on a far lesser scale).

There had long been speculation that we were going to have to do something like this to move Bridgewater because his contract was terrible.

Good for Teddy.  Good for us (fans)

I think the whole Teddy experiment is a knock on our front office though.   From start to finish.

It was a mistake and they’re not perfect. It’s not the mistake so much as the recover. They learned quick this was a no go and moved on as fast as humanly possible, that’s important to remember.

No way in the deep depths of hell would JR ever of moved on so quick and risk losing a single cent, dragging it on and on for dear life at the expense of the team and fans. We’ve seen it plenty players and coaches.

The mistake (start) sucked but I disagree, the change of pace (finish) is very nice.

    • I'm right there with you, brother. I've been a Panther fan since the day the team was awarded to the Carolinas.  We've had some good years, a couple of great years, as well as some low periods and no consecutive winning seasons. But I never thought I'd see such a period as we have over the past several years.   It has gotten to the point of being rather apathetic in watching them. In fact, I told my wife before the Miami game I was watching just to see what new and creative way they lose another game. And early on, it looked like they would. But damned if Miami wasn't more creative than the Panthers.   I'm now older than my Dad when he died (he was 65) and, like you, I've wondered if I'll ever see them have another winning season. I'd sure like to think I will.
    • again, I am not his employer, I dont follow his stuff or read any of it including social media, but he has been employed long enough where someone thinks he is doing a good job, not disagreeing he isnt an moron but I am not calling for anyones job for being a moron when it really doesnt affect me
