I think it's clear they wanted Sewell.

They had zero interest with fields, thank God.

They just improved the weakest part of our defense.

That is a win!

Plugging that gaping hole at CB makes every other position on D more effective than they would otherwise be.  Other than LT this might have been the best pick possible.

TLDR: Surprised, but not upset with the selection.

Mr.Scot I am right there with you.   I think some who don't like this pick, need to sit back and realize we have a chance to address the OL still.

These discussions on offenses and defenses can go all night long in regards to should we have picked an OL to help Darnold or shore up our secondary which was a major need..

Bottom line is we got the BEST corner in this draft and we desperately needed a corner.  Get in there tomorrow and grab some OL help for Sam and suddenly everyone agrees Horn was the right pick and we can move on.

Most of the time I felt that we didn't trade for Darnold to be the back up QB.  Fields may be a stud or he may be a bust same as Darnold with this team.

The O-line depth in this draft is deep.  We took arguably the best CB in the draft.

I cannot believe that there are so many whining and crying babies on this forum.  None of us have any financial investment into this team other than PSL holders but even those people have zero say in what goes down in the draft.

I think with Horn we may have a defense that can really compete with anyone in this league.

Defenses win Championships.

Look...........you control the line of scrimmage on offense you control the game.............you control the game you control the score..................you control the score you win.

What is so hard to learn about this?

The NFL is full of special ed front office staff and this organization is loaded with them.

The GM says we draft the best athletes and fit them into our system?

the Panther Oline is the problem..............period.

See you at 6-11 next year........good luck with all the talent you can't win games with.

We got the top rated CB.

We passed on the 3rd or 4th best QB.

We passed on lots of good talent. What does that matter?

We got the best player at his position. A position of great need in this passing league. We were not going to get that return on any other position.

He's considered the second best at his position just fyi.

Not really. Many outlets had him as the top corner. Surtain had the better and more recognizable name, thats all.

Many considered Surtain a safer pick and have said he was more polished because of the team he played for. Me personally I just didn't like his coverage of Smith. When faced with equal talent he lost the battle a good bit. Doesn't really matter though our pick is our pick.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
