Well to be fair, Ken Dorsey looks like he's doing a damn good job with Josh Allen.

Maybe if Rivera had supported him actually coaching instead of just being a buddy...

Yeah that was an odd arrangement to say the least.  Never understood what his job was other than to translate for Cam...or Shula and Ron.

But truthfully they haven't had a real QB coach since...well since I can remember at least.

What are you talking about???  We once had Mike Shu........never mind.

I'm gonna agree with Basbear that Shula was actually good as a quarterback coach. He just wasn't suited to be an OC.

Ron's talent evaluation skills weren't any better for coaches than they were for players.

Dorsey wasn't a problem here his hire was just more of an overall pattern with the previous regime. But in fairness to Ken I don't blame him or the qb. The hits took a toll on Newton's health and in the end it would not have mattered who the quarterback coach was.

Sean Ryan was hired in January as QB coach. In recent years he coached Deshaun Watson and Matt Stafford. Could be a big reason why Darnold improves (if he improves).

Wait, so, that is not Sam's father in the picture?

The bigger problem we're referring to is that Rivera was basically kind of a chicken sh-t when it came to coaching Newton.

Ron treated Can like he was too fragile to take hard coaching.

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
