Panthers RT Taylor Moton named one of NFL's top 11 offensive tackles

A second-round pick out of Western Michigan in the 2017 draft, Moton really came on in his second NFL season, allowing two sacks, one quarterback hit, and 25 quarterback hurries in 2018. Last season was his best, though, both in metrics and on film. While he did allow three sacks, he gave up no quarterback hits and 16 quarterback hurries in 657 pass-blocking reps. And if you wonder about his power as a run-blocker… well, ask Falcons defensive lineman John Cominsky about that as Moton pushed Cominsky out of the play and out of the screen last season.

Serious Question for anybody...

Is Moton better than prime-Darryl WIlliams on the right side?

I can't even remember how good Williams was before his injury.

Opinions anyone?

Abso-fuggin-lutely!

And I actually think DW played well right up to the SB.

So in typical Panthers fashion we're going to fail to resign him at the end of the year now aren't we?

I really love the guy, but until he signs a new contract the future of our offensive line is a dumpster fire. They're all either old under performing players, or young under performing player and then Morton.

We gambled Cams career on a bad offensive line and lost. We gambled on it with Allen under center and lost. Same with Teddy, and now we're gambling on it with Darnold.

Morton absolutely has to get resigned, and we absolutely have to spend more quality picks on quality offensive linemen instead of hoping for the best year after year.

Can't argue with any of this. Seen this story play out enough times over the last several years. It's "Moton" btw.

LOL, suuuure. I got moton at the 8-11 best RT in the game, hogwash hes the best 11th best overall. Did moton's agent slip this guy a 100$? Following up with what I posted in the other threads

Ramczyk >> Moton

Simply you can not pay every single spot TOP money, somebody has make the hard choices. RT is not in the top half of "pay that man his money" positions. If moton was a yearly top 1-3 RT, I would change my tune, but hes not. Plus given the big brains at panthers office have already paid LB Shaq and RB CMC too much, it would add to the problem of wasting money at lesser-valued spots to pay Moton 18-20 per for 8th best RT play.

Right now, with the tag, Moton is the 4th highest paid RT.  Any long term contract is probably north of there.

Are you saying we shouldn't re-sign him?

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
