Is it time for Sly to Fly?

Kick

Has Sly had an injury that is causing his inaccuracy?   I would prefer NOT to hold my breath when the game is on the line wondering if the kicker can seal the deal.  Hope we are looking to see who will be available after Tuesday.  Ok for a backup at this point.

Slye did NOT look good today.   At the point I'm worried that the PAT is going to hit the upright,  that's a problem.  I think one of his FG was a gift from the refs.

We need to keep our options open, because I'm beginning to wonder if Slye is the guy.

He missed one extra point.  And a 60 plus yard fg.  He isn't getting cut over that.

Don't get me wrong, I wish we had someone better, but Slye is safe for now.

Here's Slye's problem, once he has a bad kick it gets in his head.  His first kick was right down the middle.  It was his second or third he sliced badly and his accuracy was gone the rest of the day.

Sly needs to go.  We basically keep him so we can trot him out to attempt and miss a 70 yard circus kick.  I’d rather just have a more consistent 30-50 range kicker

That was exactly my thought. I'd rather have very consistent over a freak leg who can boom a 70 yard miss but make it look awesome with the keg strength. How long has it been since we have had consistent complete confidence in a kicker to know he is almost always going to be automatic? Anybody remember when we had Joe Nedney? He was pretty consistent I think.

Butker missed a FG and an extra point in his game this week too. He had a worse XP conversion rate than Slye last season.

But yes. Slye is bad.

Context is everything.  Butker had 54 PATs attempts to Slye's 32.  So yes, it's stands to reason he very well could have more PAT misses given the much greater number of attempts.  The make rate?  Slye was slightly better by 2.8%.  However, on FGs, the ones that count 3 points,  Butker was 12% better on just 9 fewer attempts.

Lastly, I have seen some KC games and while Butker does miss some, he doesn't struggle with ball control like Slye does.

Rate is rate. Butkers XP conversion rate was worse. There were articles written about his issues with extra points.
