If danrold starts of slow we’ll all know why

I'm gonna keep pounding the "correlation =/= causation" drums here as there are a myriad of reasons a team can start off slow, happens all the time around the league, but go off

Sure. I agree correlation doesn’t equal causation. You’re also an idiot if you don’t think Sam not playing in preseason would contribute to his slow start.

Darnold played? I must’ve missed it. Mahomes has gotten 20x the playing time this preseason. Wonder why that is. When in nfl history has a coach gotten a new qb and not played him in the preseason. If danrold starts of slow we’ll all know why

Mahomes is getting 50-60 reps against another defense in joint practices the last two weeks. I have no issues with the 1st team not playing more because of those practices. If they weren't having joint practices, I'd be concerned why they aren't out there getting more than one series through 2 games.

Darnold had like 4 seconds staring down Robby for his one completed pass, hardly worth anything evaluation wise

He wasnt staring down Robby.  There were two receivers running two different depths in that area.  Watch it again, there is an underneath route he was looking at too.

Not good enough.  Looking at both weeks so far, our red zone issues do not seem resolved.  I'm starting to question if it's Joe Brady.  Slye has to go asap.

You've got to remember they dont game plan or scheme for these games at all.  They are going to run base vanilla plays.  They aren't going to show many of their plays in the preseason.  Especially their redzone plays.

You mean they scale down the play calling due to having a large amount of people on the team that can't be expected to all learn the playbook, and the plays called are more about trying to evaluate players on the team than to actually win a game?

2008 Lions.  2017 Browns.

Both played to win their preseason games.  4-0 in preseason.  Went 0-16 in regular season.

Yes there has never been a lot of correlation between teams and their preseason records and regular season records that I can remember.   Some great teams have looked terrible in the preseason and vice versa.  It's not really a great thing to make knee jerk reactions on.

Replay was a closeup of Darnold and his eyes.  He was locked on from the snap.

Exactly. And Darnold make a great play by keeping his footwork and base on point and waiting in the pocket until the deeper route that Robby ran came open.

He did the opposite of just taking the quick easy checkdown

    • I was going to joke and have the Chiefs throw in 2 first rounders..... But as soon as the Mahomes/Bryce trade comes through we need to hit accept and have Mahomes on the very first flight out here; no negotiation needed lol.
    • It will be interesting this year to see if spending time with some of the best QBs and play callers in the league changed Wentz at all. I really think Mills is starter material. He wasn’t awful despite being apart of two dumpster fire seasons before Demeco got there. Plus he would have zero issues seeing over the line.
    • I feel like for once every one of those guys held back. And I think there is a 5'9 100% attitude guy that they're almost hesitant to speak out against. This is the fact of the matter, it's sports. When you win, fans cheer. When you lose, fans boo. Especially consistently year after year with no end in sight. Instead of just talking about us being the Bible belt maybe talk about how we've never once in the franchise history had back to back winning seasons. We love the team, we loved and celebrated Cam and Steve, and even guys like Jake that we love not just because of talent but because of his spirit as the face of the team. But they all won.  Fans pay a lot of money on gear, and on these overpriced tickets to go out and see a horrible product. I've slowed down on watching games because I realized I was spending 4 hours of my day getting annoyed watching a consistently bad product. Outside of a few hopeful games at the end of last year Panthers football hasn't even been enjoyable to watch. When I flip the channel to a Ravens/Eagles game it almost feels like I'm watching a different sport.  I wouldn't just focus so much attention on the city, I'd ask based on the results are they justified.
