Panthers waiver claims and practice squad signings

All coaches tend to show allegiance to guys they're familiar with, particularly early in their career. It's just that list coaches come from either prior NFL experience or powerhouse college experience. Having a large chunk of your roster comprised of Temple and Baylor players though... oh wee mayne. We're not exactly talking about Alabama and Clemson here. These are the same players Rhule couldn't beat ranked collegiate competition with, much less NFL competition.

I'm for real so sick and tired of reading you people whine about Rhule keeping guys he is familiar with. Like literally every other coach in the history of the NFL. I just want to read about our acquisitions. Im sick of you cry babies

Exactly! Everyone was calling McDermott and Beane geniuses for creating the Carolina Panthers North

Bailey interviewed Corey Miller on WFNZ a few minutes ago and had some choice comments about how he felt the Panthers treated his son --- he was pissed.

Straight out said Christian was cut because he chose to sit out last year...

...also said Brian Burns was the only linebacker on the roster who had played better than Christian during training camp.

PJ Walker?  No, Im not forgetting him.  PJ is competent as far as backup QBs go.

PJ is a competent XFL QB, but that’s about where it ends.

Brayvion Roy is a waste of a roster spot, as is Colin Thompson. All three guys are low floor, low ceiling guys.

It may have just been me but I hadnt heard anything about Miller during camp. Also didnt see him flash much in the preseason.

Sounds like a loving dad talking. Miller was my fav 2019 draft pick mainly cause of the value. He just was always nicked and when healthy did not show much. Its a performance deal.

Jordan seems to be a good athlete who is young (23) and the light has not yet come on. He has improved.  We seem to be gravitating toward these athletic OL and it is obvious that the chemistry is not there yet.  We saved money (cutting Moore) and added some G/C depth.  I see no problem with this.

Eeeesshhh…let your playing talk not your dad. I had high hopes for Miller but the year off took away film and reps. It is what it is.

    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Because this DL is completely reliant on Brown being available and being a stud. Without him we were the worst D in history. The Wharton signing last year reeked of desperation. He just isn't a great fit for us schematically and I think we panicked a little bit when we missed out on Milton Williams who would have been a great fit.
