Rhule was the local sports station here in Charlotte before the season started and stated that he was just trying this year to get the most out Sam and hopes to show the most progress in his second year. I don’t expect any change at that position unless something drastic happens, or at the end of next year.

If we continue to suck, Rhule might be betting his NFL future on Sam Darnold. If he's dumb enough to do that, well...

Without dramatic improvements, if we go into next season with Darnold as our QB, I'll be conducting the "fire Rhule" train.

Again, they have a winning record with Tua.  Tua wasn’t the QB for all those losses this year.

did you watch the Jags/Phins game?   Is your argument Tua is why? Tua played well.

I mean if you wanted to single out that part, you could of at least attempted to disprove it.

Pop quiz.  What team scored the fewest points against the Jags this year?

And here's boy wonders drive chart for the entire 2nd half.  This is how you lose to the sorry Jags.  The Jags would have 2 more wins if other teams scored as few points as the Dolphins did.

I think we will be in year three of the "QB Carousel."

Can't wait to see our next reclamation project!

I really can't see us going vet castoff again. If we go vet, I think we'll be shopping for a higher tier option. I'm just not seeing the right fit out there. Guys like Wilson and Rodgers ain't signing off on coming here.

I think we get a decent vet option, and go into next year with competition between Darnold and another vet with a rebuilt OL. Year after we go all in on a rookie QB.  That's assuming Darnold keeps playing inconsistent and has some good and some bad games. If he just flat out sucks every game from here on out, they may jettison him completely

Maybe we go all in on a rookie qb next year if we fall in love with one, but this OL... Ugh I just hope we fix it this offseason.

I don't think we are gonna have much of an option. If we use a 1st round pick on this crop of QB's it will be 100% pure desperation mode and I think be the clear indicator that we will be looking for a new coach sooner rather than later.

I think you just try and find a reasonable "better" option in 2022 and hope that the team really takes off in 2022(with a revamped OL perhaps) to make us a much more attractive FA option or go hard in the 2023 draft if there are some strong prospects available.

100% what I think.

If we don't attempt to make serious fixes to the OL in the offseason, I will have my axe sharpened for the "Fire Rhule" mob.

I mean nothing you are saying refutes what you claim to be “calling out”….

Does Tua having a winning record despite being a young player on a bad team? Yep.

Does he have a good endzone/turnover split despite being a young player on a bad team? Yep.

Did he play well last weekend in his second game of the season despite being a young player on a and team? Yep.

did you actually have a point? You think Tua is trash and should be moved on from after not even playing a seasons worth of games?  Then say that.

I do think that with a slightly more shored up D with more experience, a new OL (this being key), and better receiving options out of the backfield behind CMC, this is a playoff team.  If CMC stays healthy and if we don't have severe injuries to multiple critical d starters this still could Have been a playoff team this year... But I doubt those things will be the case, especially with Horn already out for the season.

Edit: the running back outlet seems critical for Brady, and Chubba has dropped 26% of the throws he's been targeted with. Some of that is on Darnold but not all.

    • Ok--I have seen some sample items, and I would like to see something (if possible) measures on field intelligence--maybe how quickly you can grasp a playbook or absorb film session adjustments...Back when we had Morrison as team president and Hurney as GM, I offered to assess (as part of my research in education requirement at a University) emotional intelligence and learning styles of players to help coaches teach more effectively.  Morrison loved it and contacted me about it.  Hurney was not interested, and it fell through the cracks.  My pitch?  If only 50% of first-rounders become successful NFL players and that number drops significantly, can you tell me that you are effectively measuring talent?  Morrison thought it was a good point and wanted to do something that might improve long-term success rates--that would impact the cap management, etc.  Marty, according to Morrison, said he was not interested at this time and if so, he would want a football guy to do it.  (I told Morrison that I played in college and Hurney, a sports reporter at one time, did not. He told me that Hurney played as a Guard in college--who knew?) Any way, about that time, Morrison left (2017) and the idea was dropped.  I reached back out a year later or so to Marty was still not interested.  A few days later, his wife accused him of assault or something, so I dropped it.
    • Pretty sure they still do the Wonderlic they just don't publicly release the scores.
    • I just thought he was under the radar--but thanks for opening our eyes to him.  I think we should have better measures for intelligence--such as reaction time, angles, etc. Legette is raw as heck, for example, and his RAS was very high.  We used to do the Wonderlic (which was not great) but to know how effectively a player makes on field decisions would be great.
