Rapoport believes Watson will be traded before the deadline

Yeah, with money comes power...  and I have to believe Tepper isn't trying to make this deal if he knows the NFL will sit him.  I also suspect Tepper will do whatever it takes legally to make the cases go away.

I mean, we don't have the same exact issues here, but Zeke was caught on camera groping a woman and only ended up suspended for 2 games IIRC, and Jerrah was giving Goodell a lot of poo for it, too.

For better or worse, money talks and in this scenario, Watson is one of the biggest stars in the league and was in the running for MVP at one point with a poo team around him.  Tepper is one of the wealthiest, if not THE wealthiest team owner out there, and it's good for business if both the NFL and the team Watson ends up on can put the legal issues behind him and get him back on the field.  I have to believe throats already been discussed with the league before we would pursue it.

This isn't saying the accusations don't matter or that this is morally or ethically the right thing to do of those accusations are true...  it obviously wouldn't be.  But, this is the NFL and all that matters is winning.

Draft picks will be contingent on how many games he plays.

If he never plays a down we’ll pay nothing….unless we give up players that is.

It's the players part that worries me about any trade. Can't really tell a guy sorry we traded you and made you move your family but we didn't really mean it. Come on back.

Morale police on full alert this morning hoping Watson doesn't come here.  Its a football team, I want a consistent winning team and putting Watson here is a huge leap towards that.  Those that oppose it are the same people who sell their seats to opposing fans.

Those same moral police consumed the NFL product even though Roethlisberger was able to play out a full hall of fame career and win Super bowls.

Morality shouldn't stop at your favorite team. If it was really about morals you would distance yourself from the NFL completely.

As fun as it might be to have Watson. Nobody should be trading for him. A grand is impaneled and with the amount of complaints that all of the don’t get a bill is slim to none. If even one of them get a bill the NFL will be stuck between a rock and a hard place with the exempt list.

It’s much better to let that happen, make Houston cut him and then pick him up post charges.

Thats a pretty extreme take. By that same logic you could then apply that to every aspect of life until you go live in a colony.

Not denying that but this is much different. We’re talking 3 1sts and players for a guy with this baggage. You make sure everything is good before pulling the he trigger on it. If you don’t you’ll set the franchise back at least 4 years but more like a decade.

Like signing two mediocre vet QBs back to back for costs they are not even close to and have never showed they are worth?

I agree with your post but I’m trying to tell you we are looking at an organization that seems to do things just cause they can and until they show otherwise that is the expectation one should have.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
