Or a change in position.

Since he likes to run a lot, maybe a TE or RB?   I mean...he is still a very good athlete so he might be able to do it (plus he won't be throwing any INTs so that's always a plus.  lol )

I'm all for trying to get something out of him that doesn't require him deciding who to throw the ball to.

I think 89 is the fanbases collective favorite of all time.

I don’t think he was actually the best player to put on pads here.  Top 3.  Nor the most impactful.  Top 2.

Cam Newton isn't a hof qb.

He wasn't ever a top 5 qb in the league

He also wasn't even the best of his generation.

He was a very good player for us but that's it.

I believe that Sam believes(and rightly so) that he would get sacked the moment he slows down his drop back.

Basically, he's ready to run from the moment the ball is snapped and that's not conducive to Good QB'ing.

The only question now is not *are* you related to Darnold, only how closely.

Parent?  Sibling?  Cousin?

But let me ask you :  What team out there would even WANT him at this point to even be a backup?

I think he's on a one-way trip out of the league entirely at this rate unless he changes positions or something 'cause being NFL QB may be a bit too much for him to handle apparently.

I think it was reasonable and I endorsed us doing the same that just happened with Trubisky.  Throw him on a roster for a couple years and tinker with him and see…

but making Sam the dude was always crazy.   And frankly, Rhule doesn’t have defense for Sam and the way it went.   If you were even thinking of starting him you had to go get legit comp from day 1.

Sam is everything that fans tried to say our last real QB was; inaccurate and doesn’t have it between the ears.

I hope we find another franchise QB soon.

Completely agreed.. I stand on this with you until proven otherwise. Sam may need time to figure it out but.... You aint a rookie bruh. Cam found a QB coach before he even entered the league, after awhile I give no fugs that he didn't have a QB coach, find a way.

Sam is what we deserved after killing Cam.

I agree but don't.....no team deserves that from what we've seen so far. Nobody..

Is there anyone in here saying he was a HoF QB or top 5? It’s always funny when individuals like you try to discredit Cam, but tried to defend Darnold, who’s a lesser QB. He is everything people like you tried to say Cam was; inaccurate and not smart.

One was a starter and MVP, the other can't prove he is a good backup in year 4....

Ok.  Didn’t say he was.  Cam was the most impactful though.   89 didn’t draw folks or make us nationally relevant to the nation like Cam.  So Cam is the most impactful.  For many reasons… his role, load and MVP on a Carolina level and then what he did for us on the national stage.

I think Luke and Peppers were better actual football players.  89 3rd, more entertaining because of position, trash talk, and after the whistle/play antics

And what does this have to do with what I said?

most impactful - Cam, 89

best football player - Pep/Luke, 89

I never in a million years have said Sam is Cam or Jake.

I was hoping with coaching and a line he could become Steve Beurlien.

I'm just tired of people making Cam out to more than he was. A very very good football player.

And you got tired of folks talking about Darnold until it was evident by everyone he was trash. I seen your post. You were wrong on Darnold.

    • Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.
    • It definitely needs more specificity than is baked in now.
    • The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
