When pass rush win rate was referenced, you claimed “what about a sacks? ”. Suh had 4 sacks his second year? Did he not play well or was he double-teamed constantly like Brown is? You just do your usual move the goalposts and “chuck” out any info that doesn’t fit the agenda.

Suh came out and had 10 sacks in his rookie season. You don’t think and did you forget that OCs started game planning to Suh? Aaron Donald only has 3 sacks so far this season. Does he just suck or do you not realize that teams are trying to take him out of the game? That’s not the case with Brown. Like I said, if he can show to be a force in the running game I would be fine. Maybe I’m not seeing that because our linebackers are trash unlike Luke and TD who made a living because of Star.

I think this is a big part of it. So, too, is our general weakness on the edge at stopping the run, although that is thankfully improving it seems.

Do we have any evidence he would have traded up?  Yes, hurney 1.0 loved to trade up but all I'd heard is we wanted Herbert but he didn't fall to us.

Depends what rumor you want to believe? Was Hurney the “driving force” behind the Teddy signing and 34M guaranteed contract. Or was he in “love” with Hebert because he was the only guy that went to watch him work out. So he convinced the team to overpay a bridge QB even though he supposedly “loved” Hebert?

Truth probably is they believed in TB and would have taken Brown over Hebert even if he fell. You don’t pay a “mentor” that much. And Hurney had as much say as many of us did.

Brown was double teamed the 6th most of any DL last year. I’d call that accounting for him. And propping up Star just further a my point. How many sack or pressures did he have. But he was still worth the pick. You are the one who doesn’t understand all this because it “what about sacks” and nothing else.

My brother is a long time dolphins fan & he whines every time San Diego gets a win. They were comparing Herbert to Marino coming out of college with size & strength. He said the GM at dolphins is a basket case & would like just one draft & free agency to get some players for the dolphins.

Yeah the Dolphins always have a way of tripping over their own feet.

Sacks aren’t the definitive stat for NTs. They’re not the end all be all qualifier for defensive linemen, not even DEs. They’re more important for DEs, but not the whole story.

I believe too many folks are caught up in the "If you aren't making highlight reel plays on instant repays, or ESPN highlights. You're not doing your job" mentality.

I know someone in the building that told me the day of the draft that Hurney wanted to move up for Herbert, then there was contention about taking Brown. At the time I thought Hurney was crazy for trying to get Herbet, and god I was wrong.

    • https://nfltraderumors.co/2026-nfl-draft-grades-for-all-32-teams/      Grade: B+ Best Pick: Sam Hecht Biggest Reach (consensus rank): Jackson Kuwatch (NR) It's easy to love what Carolina did. The Panthers traded four times but ended the draft with the same number of selections that they started with and in approximately the same ranges. They did not take a player ahead of the consensus until Kuwatch at No. 227, and it's easy to see how he fell through the cracks playing at Miami of Ohio. He's a high-end athlete, though, and has a chance to develop, which is a fine profile for a seventh-rounder. Freeling and Brazzell also checked the high-end athleticism upside boxes for the Panthers. Carolina let the board come to them in the first round and could have a long-term solution at left tackle, which is a hard position to fill. Brazzell slid because of some maturity concerns as well as the difficulty in projecting receivers from Tennessee's Mickey Mouse offense. At 6-4, 200 pounds and 4.37 in the 40, though, the upside is undeniable. On top of that, the landed three starters on Day 3. Normally that's a high and unrealistic bar, but Hecht and Wheatley were both firmly inside the top 100 on the consensus board and have paths to win starting competitions. Lee fits the scheme well and has some interesting traits as an outside corner. What stopped me from a full-out A grade is not loving the Hunter pick, though he does fill a need to replace DT A'Shawn Robinson. There were prospects at other needs positions I would have been more jazzed about. The Brazzell pick is also an interesting risk for a team that's still in building mode, even coming off an NFC South title. Still, I'm nitpicking
