Darnold may not deserve all the blame, as the OL is dreadful, but he is the leader and has been horrible. Like, Jimmy Pickles horrible. And as the leader of an underperforming bunch, he needs to be shown the door at season’s end. I’d say boot him today, but for who? Cam? I can’t imagine that happening though he would be an upgrade over Sam even if he was in a wheelchair. There just aren’t many options beyond letting Sam finish this lost season out, pray that CMC stays healthy, and look for the answer at QB in the draft.

Sports is a cyclical business and winning relies on elite talent at the QB position. You cant construct a SB team just because you want to. It takes patience and a lot of luck. Yes, you have to put the right people in charge, but even then things may not bounce your way.

You're not going to develop a new offensive scheme in 8 games.

22) Carolina Panthers

We’re done trying to talk ourselves into Sam Darnold, right? I can’t help but think how fun Justin Fields would be in a Panthers uniform. This team is in a tough spot now. They have a young defensive nucleus and some great offensive weapons. But they’re paying their running back a ton of money, and they’re on the hook for almost $19 million for Darnold next season.

Carolina doesn’t absolutely need to select a QB in the 2022 NFL Draft, but they must rebuild their offensive line at a minimum. Then, Carolina’s front office must pray it can either get good enough play to give Darnold another season or bad enough play to get a top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Panthers’ brain trust — head coach Matt Rhule, offensive coordinator Joe Brady, and general manager Scott Fitterer — are in a tough spot. Owner David Tepper doesn’t strike me as an incredibly patient owner. He wants to spend money and make splashes. That’s tough to do without a franchise QB.

QB and OL are not the Panthers only problem. Until some serious changes are made to this coaching staff we can expect the same inept games from the team.

this thought is exactly why you start PJ.  Then you start that 3rd string QB. 

last thing you need to happen, is for Sam Darnold to throw a couple checkdowns to CMC vs Atlanta and CMC take them 60 yards and Sam finish a game with a junk stat sheet.  Giving clowns like Matt Rhule talking points to continue this mistake.   Look guys, Sam moved the team down the field, we got TDs, and won.  Maybe there is something there.  

You bench Sam to close the door on Sam Darnold.  It's not about PJ being the man.  Or the 3rd string QB.  It is about exposing the entire QB depth chart Matt Rhule put together, shutting all the doors.  PJ's too.

They screwed themselves, they had Teddy under contract. Denver got Teddy for a 6th round pick and $3 million dollars. Saints got Winston for like $5 million? Trubisky for a vet minimum? All these guys are better and rebuild friendly. I think this staff has a gambling problem

I've had a tough time letting go of taking Horn over Jones or Fields since draft night. I now have 0 doubt this was a terrible choice.

Fields would at least give us someone to build around and hope. Jones with this defense would be in playoff contention.

fug Sam, but can we not play the "Second verse same as the first, a little bit louder and a little bit worse" game again?
