Rhule Backpedals on Cam Blame/Comments

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

Honestly, the more telling response to me came yesterday when Newton was asked what's wrong with the passing game.

His answer? "I don't know".

I'm not sure I buy that at all, but it's not hard to imagine that he might have to refrain from saying what he's actually thinking.

Cam absolutely knows, or at least has insight into what could help it improve. He's a smart player and this is evidenced even more by this response.

I wonder what the locker room thinks of Rhule and his list of BS

  • Coddling Darnold
  • Brady Christensen 1 inch arm length BS/Deonte Brown "needs to be in better shape" but at the same time trotting Erving, Daley, Elflein, and Miller out there every week
  • Blaming the defense when the offense stalled
  • Always protecting his Temple/Baylor boys
  • Releasing players after praising them in the media

100% Scot.  I had also thought about including the comments Zylstra made in his presser yesterday when asked about what was wrong with the offense.  At one point, when asked directly about why we can't get anything going deep downfield, he specifically stated that their offense is structured to attack underneath, get the ball out quickly to their playmakers and let them make something happen after the catch, run RPOs, etc, and once we get all of that going, it will open up everything else.  While in theory that sounds great, it is exactly what is wrong with our offense and is the same exact garbage that we were running that got Brady fired.  The issue is, those things "never get going," but we still end up running it, even when we shouldn't - like throwing 2 yard drags on 3rd and 10 or 4th and 10.  This staff just doesn't get it, AT ALL.  Teams know that's what we're doing and they take it away and it's like the staff has no counter or adjustment, ever, so we just keep running the same ineffective bullshit and nothing changes.

And Cam's response does sound like he doesn't want to throw anyone else under the bus.  The more I hear, the more dysfunctional and broken this whole team seems to be under this staff.  It is crazy that they're still here, all things considered.

There's no way he still had the locker room's ear at this point.  The players all know the poo they're stuck in right now.

With each passing Sunday I am more and more perplexed as to why he hasn’t hasn’t been fired. Perhaps tepper wants to squeeze a few more pennies out of the home fans for the final game in BOA this Sunday. If he doesn’t do it after we lose to Tampa I am very worried that this clown gets a third year.

I think coupled with the "move some furniture" comment from last week, Cam absolutely knows but also knows it would just create a bigger circus to deal with if he did say anything.

Zylstra basically described a West Coast Offense (with a few modifications).

And while WCO 101 might be valuable info, it doesn't exactly answer the question.

Throw in also that the best West Coast type attacks include at least occasional deep passes.

Yeah, and paired with Rhule's response to a similar question where he essentially bragged about our two deep attempts and essentially, again, blamed Cam for missing both even though he was under duress both times, and it just further cements how clueless this staff is.

You guys get mad over dumb poo. He says he needs to watch tape and he’s made fun of. Blames cam and you’re butthurt. Watches tape and corrects himself and stans still butthurt. Try to compare cam to sam but the same poo was going on with Sam including being benched. This ineptness isn’t all about cam good grief. This is why so many find stabs annoying.

Fact is there isn’t enough credit given to the real reason he should be fired and that’s because he’s a shitty coach who can’t win or progress, his methods suck. The fact he stupidly calls out players is just the details and cherry on top of being a shitty coach.

    • He was so much fun to watch as a player but is a prototypical example of the old "never meet your heroes" adage. Great player, not a great guy.
    • Look.... if us BY "haters" give credit about his GWDs...... Will the BY stans also have honest discussion about the 55minutes before the last 5 in which BY has put up 9/20 for 78 yards 0 TDs???
    • The way they are handling now is how they should have handled it from the start instead of that you get a series, you a get a series. Let Chuba spell until he had some of his step back.  We definitely could have put a better showing against Buffalo and their weak run defense had we employed the same game plan we did against Green Bay. Saints were determined to stop the run and make Bryce beat them, Atlanta had similar plan and the coaches and Bryce were able to respond.  Rico although didnt have the best rushing game was vital in the passing game and his catch and run help get us into the redzone there at the end of regulation probably should have been a touchdown that out of bounds was a judgement call it wasn't conclusive and thus should have went with the original call on the field.  Roco brings that dawg to the offense that it shorely lacked up until Miami game. Interesting it was his call that help seal the win for us, glad the coaches were listening. Hope they can get a deal done and run it back next year.
