I feel like he'll be here another year.
NO, I would not like that.

He could have been fired any of the last few weeks or weeks to come based on how the team has progressed ( regressed ) since Game 1.  By letting him go late in the season,  it allows ( WITHOUT TAMPERING )  word be know to all the agents who are pushing their coach to be a head coach etc,  to have the no existing, back channel conversations.

Waiting till Black Monday Jan 10th is wasting time.  For all we know Fitterer might be having those back channel conversations as I type.

But I think  Tepper will give him another year,  and moral of the team will be gone by Week 3 next season, and moral of the fan base will be gone by January 10 this year

If tepper is smugly mocking fans who think Matt rhule should be fired then I’m going to enjoy getting the last laugh next season as the camera pans to him in the box and he sits there with a befuddled look on his face wondering why the stadium is empty

If Rhule is retained, I'm not sure I'll watch any games next year.   Tepper cannot read a room.  The sad part is if this doofus wins more than 5 games next year he can point to progress and justify a year 4.  At that point I'll tune out until he's no longer on the Panthers.

I hated the hire to begin with because history is not on the side of college coaches making the leap to the NFL.  A simple internet search by Tepper about college coaches busting big time at this level and he would realized he was not making a wise choice.

My biggest fear right now is that we're going to miss out on far better coaching options (even great coaching options) by sticking with Rhule for another year.

If the stories about players from other teams mocking our situation are true, that potentially means there'll be challenges in free agency as well.

And yeah, it's depressing. The team is barely watchable as it is.

I wonder if the organization knows the laughing stock they have become or if they are 'blocking the outside noise?'  When former players and other team's players are openly mocking your head coach because of his incompetence, that's beyond humiliating.

Read the tea leaves...Rhule threw a player under the bus.   He was saying, "This ain't on me, its on the players." When you lose the locker room, you lose the team.  Those wearing C on their jerseys will talk to Tepper.  I think Rhule will be fired IF we lose out.

The story about former Panthers / current Bills players talking to their former teammates about "sending Rhule back to college" is definitely believable.

Possibly the biggest thing that tells you is that when they were making these statements, they knew they had a receptive audience.

If Tepper sticks with Rhule I hope he starts pounding the drum for publico ey for a new stadium and gets told to pound sand. Let him take this franchise elsewhere and let Charlotte have an opportunity for a fresh new NFL start. Because Tepper seems utterly clueless on how to build and maintain a successful football operation.

Hope so, but with the new end of season interview window, by the time that happens other teams could already be talking to the best head coaching candidates about contract terms.

I've become a huge fan of Nathaniel Hackett, though I don't know that he's got much connection to anybody currently with the Panthers other than a couple of  position coaches (Jason Simmons, for one).

Brian Daboll certainly has high connections (Dan Morgan, Pat Stewart) but the hype surrounding him is starting to dim. And he wasn't my favorite candidate in the first place, obviously.

If we have to do this again next year, there will certainly be candidates (Rams OC Kevin O'Connell is getting a lot of hype) but I feel like if we miss out on a guy like Hackett, we're going to come to regret it.

    • Love the Freeling pick even more after watching his pressers. Dude is sharp and definitely seems to have the right mentality. I loved hearing how personal he took having a bad game with a torn labrum and instead of seeing that as the reason for his bad game and not changing anything, it motivated him to work even harder. Such a great pick, we finally got our all pro level LT for the next decade and now we can move Ickey to RT or guard with no hurt feelings due to his injury. Second favorite pick is probably Brazzell. He said he false started on his 40 and it cost him probably 0.04 seconds, so he’s more of a 4.33 guy rather than 4.37. Really Randy Moss lite. I didn’t know anything about him prior to drafting him and first highlight reel I saw of him I immediately thought he looked like Moss. Then I saw the measurables and was like yep. Then I see that he’s drawn that comparison by many scouts and analysts. If he can add consistency and play to the level of his highlights every play then we got an incredible value.
    • During his three years at UGA he only allowed 5 sacks. He is only 21 and is on an upward trajectory. He's a great athlete that was good basketball player in high-school.  His height (76% how is this only 76%???? these guys are giants now), hands (81%), span (99%), speed (96%), quickness (10 yd. 86%), and explosiveness (vert. 96%, broad 97%) are all outstanding.  When we took Freeling, Fano, Mauioga, Proctor, and Miller were all off the board so we could have drafted Iheanachor or Lomu instead or waited to the second or third round to take Bell, Tiernan or Barber or wait even longer.  A lot of these tackles (including the first two taken) project to right tackle or guard in the NFL and that's not what we needed now.  Freeling has some sloppiness to clean up in his run blocking, but he's young and getting better.  We can let him get experience behind Walker and Moton knowing if he has to replace one of the two this year, his pass blocking won't get Bryce killed. Icky's not coming back from that injury as a nfl starting left tackle and Moton is in the twilight of his career.  If Walker has a great year, we will have to pay him a lot and if he is medicore we would want to let him walk.  Getting a LT on a rookie contract is going to help a lot with the cap.
    • It was cool but they have done this at least in recent years unless I am imagining it
