Could Matt Rhule be fired "For Cause"?

Most head coaching contracts in the NFL are guaranteed. Except in rare cases a coach is fired "For Cause". A coach fired for cause means the remaining years on the contract are voided.

Take for example, Lane Kiffin's departure from the Oakland Raiders in 2008. Then Raiders owner Al Davis fired Kiffin "for cause" after a public feud with the coach. Kiffin filed a grievance with the NFL to recoup the money owed to him on the final two years of his contract, which was denied. https://www.espn.com/nfl/news/story?id=5808642

Should Panthers owner David Tepper choose to fire Matt Rhule after the 2021 season, the remaining years on his 7 year, $62m contract would need to be paid out unless Rhule is fired "for cause".

Joe Person's recent article in The Athletic highlighted some questionable comments and decisions made by Matt Rhule. Perhaps David Tepper's PR team is preparing to make a case to fire Rhule "for cause" and claim some of the issues were unknown by ownership. This dirt-digging endeavor could save Tepper millions. 

I think we will know if Tepper plans on firing Rhule in the next week. If we see a flurry of new articles highlighting previously unknown unscrupulous activity by Matt Rhule, Tepper could be planning to fire Rhule for cause. If it's quiet, and all we see is reports he's being kept for a third season, we might all be disappointed. 

Time will tell.

Simply being a bad coach and unqualified for the job you gave him isn't enough. Trying to pull that off would damage your ability to hire the next HC.

I don’t think they will make anything up. Rhule seems clean aside from being a bad coach. But who knows. The bombshell could be right around the corner

When I heard that Jay Z stuff I legitimately thought it was a joke.  I didn't think it was real.  Matt Rhule is like if Tim and Eric came up with an NFL coach.

I'm going off topic here but I saw Tim and Eric on one of their tours when they did Amos' South End probably 10+ years ago.  One of the most fuged up yet hilarious things I've ever seen in person.
