Great article about Christensen, author throws shade all over Rhule’s face about arm length

Our OL situation becomes a MUCH easier fix if we have the long-term solutions in place at both OT spots. Serviceable IOL are much easier to find. Well, they are unless Matt Rhule or Marty Hurney are the ones shopping. My concern is Scott Fitterer may need to be on that list too. Seattle's OL is as bad as ours.

not sure how many times he said "who Rhule sees as a guard because of his arm length, but it felt like it was every other sentence.

I felt like it was done for the purpose of memeing, so I had to continue the tradition.

One thing I really did not take into consideration was how little the offensive line matters in the Big 12. I remember now reading tons of articles about how top flight o line recruits will stay away from the conference because no one gets drafted out of there. Since they all run some air raid variation, all they need is their offensive lineman to be able to get up quickly and move to the next play. Blocking wise you just need to slow the defender down a little bit.

In the NFL....not so much.

SMH, man people are ready to crown him @MHS831 . He’s been OK but not being able to pick up blitzes after his guy stunts is a big problem. It cost us 1/3 of the points NO scored because a free run at the QB that should have been picked up is the most likely to cause a fumble.

Maybe he can get better but that’s why tackles are so important, especially on the blind side. If a rusher comes up the middle it’s bad but the QB can see it and at least react. The tackles screwing up is what typically creates the fumbles.

It’s funny that the article keeps mentioning being seen as a guard even though he’s right now playing LT for us. Seems like he’s getting an opportunity. I just hope we don’t pass on a much more talented LT on the hope that next time he’ll actually react quicker to the blitz since he didn’t even get his 🦖 arms out to impede the blitzer. As said above, solid IOL help is available day 2 of every draft. Remember our buddy Hurney didn’t draft a single IOL from 2018 to 2020 after letting Norwell walk, trading Turner and watching Ryan retire. That’s the reason why our interior is a steaming pile of poo.

He's a rookie who has gotten minimal playing time and yet has still been by far and away our lost effective LT. It's 100% on Rhule. It's 100% on Rhule why we haven't seen Deonte Brown despite everyone we've trotted out at RG getting treated like a doormat.

    • I believe Lloyd will elevate not just the whole unit, but also whoever his running mate is. Wallace is still very young, I think he's only 23 with two years of exp now. Cherelus can handle starting, he's just fighting with staying healthy. Kuwatch I think is going to be a contender after a couple week of understanding the system.  I mean Lee will be against..... what nearly 10 NFL-level WRs, he's going to get work and its up to him if he can hang.  I think its fair to expect 12th +/- 3 or 4 spots.  You know this, it boils down to how healthy everyone stays.....cause if dbrown, horn, Lloyd, Michael Jackson, or tervon miss extended time.....no way 10th can be reached. IF all the names above remain haethly, I do think 10th should be the goal. They are a young unit and added talent to a 16th ranked unit. Its time to march forward!!
    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
