Right now, I think we need a center much more than we need a tackle. Keep Brady and Taylor at the tackles, keep working with Deonte at guard and move Elflein to LG and let him train up both Brady and the next tackle. Look for a young guard with a couple of years experience out there in free agency, doesn't have to be a starter if he's been on one of the teams with a first class o-line already -- strong, smart and mean are the three key traits as he may have to take over at either LG or RG.

Draft Linderbaum even if you think it is too early. Grab him and set the center of your offense for the next decade. This is you Ryan Kalil move. Do not make it your Matt Kalil move. Got it?

I agree here, but I would have Elf stay at C and bring in a free agent LG--and I would make sure that RG Brown has competition.   Of course, there are many ways to do this--and I am not sure my way is better than anyone else's way of handling this--if we had 1 need, same page.  But when you have 3 OL needs AND QB--it gets complicated.

I have said before, there is only two positions this pick could be. It's either a tackle or a quarterback. No way in hell we take a corner, obviously. Trade down seems unlikely in this market, and if a qb is there that someone wants, take the qb.

Preference list:
1. Malik Willis
2. Kenny Pickett
3. Evan Neal
4. Ikem Ekwonu
5. Charles Cross

One of those guys will be there, we just have to make it happen.

I have seen Willis all over the place--It seems that he is a polarizing player---however, he makes me think of Lamar Jackson in Baltimore--I think he went 32nd overall--Behind four picked in the top 10, including Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and Josh Rosen (Josh Allen was the other).  This draft sure looks like that one in 2018 to me.

Today, that draft would have Josh Allen #1, and I am guessing Jackson would have been a Jet at #3.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we are taking a QB at 6.

I've felt that way since midseason or so.

  • Passing on top prospects tackle prospects because they are QB desperate is a Panthers under Rhule thing to do.
  • Rhule's and Fitt's end of season pressers gave hints they were ok with him as the LT next season.
  • Kiper saying tackle means the Panthers won't pick one. 😁

Willis wouldn't surprise me for either reason.

A) Steal that no one else would take that high maybe b/c of McAdoodoos only good thing he brings

B) Bust that was an overhyped but at the same time under the radar(relatively speaking) type of player. In other words trying to out smart the field and derrrp

I am not sure TBH he's not like Jackson who played at Louisville and was playing against the Clemson defenses and NC State defenses at the big level among others.

    • Never been. Going to a concert there Thursday night. Decent tailgating opportunities in the parking area or no? I see people are going to the beer hall to grab a beer to get their parking validated. Seems like a good plan to me. I'd like to smoke a brisket and do a decent spread of food but I just don't know if the parking setup allows for it.

    • Bryce also has a degree in psychology. He has an uncanny ability to compartmentalize things in a way that allows him to enter his second NFL season with optimism that he can still be the player who was worthy of being the No. 1 pick of the 2023 draft despite the kind of rookie year that has destroyed others in his position. Young credits that in part to his past. He graduated from the University of Alabama in three years with a degree in psychology. His father was a therapist in the mental health field for 20 years. His mother was a special education teacher, and his grandfather was a psychologist. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/40334565/bryce-young-developing-leader-panthers-year-2
