Worst Kept Secret at the Senior bowl (Panthers Interest in Pickett)

No.  We have 1 pick in the top 100.

Pickett is the definition of a desperate team doing desperate things.   If you watched him for the last 5 freaking years in college.  Nothing says he is worth a top 10 pick gamble.  Every QB in the last draft that went in the first round was a better prospect.

Are you waiting for this upcoming disaster to make sense?

I got some bad news, bubba.

Yep. All first round QBs last year are better than any of these prospects. How many of those turned out to be worth the pick?

Rhule, mcadoo, and the rest of that staff need a QB to save their jobs. Only Fitts can save the org from these bad choices and I’m not sure he has the power.

It doesn't matter, the Panthers will be selecting another qb in 2023 anyway.

And then we trade away our 25 year old 1st round qb bust (Pickett, not Darnold although basically the same age and bust factor) for like a 3rd or something. Sounds like the Panthers way

Scariest part is I expect Matt Rhule to trade up with his good friends the NY Jets in order to get Pickett.

I'm cool with taking a shot on him ideally trading down a bit but at least we'd have an exciting young QB prospect who can actually potentially develop here for the first time since Cam. Yes like others I don't trust this staff to do it but at least it's not another trash retread QB option like Teddy/Sam.

I dunno about exciting and young, not a good season til his 5th year. Only a year younger than Darnold. Now Willis yes, exciting and young that was mentored by Cam

Can you imagine anyone thinking that Pickett was a better prospect than Fields or Zach Wilson? Apparently we had little to no interest in either of those players pre draft……….and now we’re interested in a dude who has to wear a glove to grip a professional size ball. He should do GREAT in bad weather. Not a turnover risk at ALL.m

He cannot freaking throw a pro ball. It’s embarrassing. You can tell on SCREEN passes he can’t throw it. It’s like a high schooler. He double grips it to get a feel for the ball when he’s stepping INTO his throw. Not when he’s taking his drop as just a part of a pattern. When he’s actually getting ready to THROW the ball he’s trying to grip it. You CANNOT draft him in the first round.

    • Sellers has bust written all over him..unless he goes to a team that can afford to sit him where he can learn the game and develop without the pressure of starting immediately. Not sure that is the Panthers. If we do go rookie in the draft, he can't be viewed as a day 1 starter. He does have potential, but I think it is going to have to be a handle-with-care situation.
    • Nothing will change with the qb situation until Tepper is convinced Young is not viable. Until that point, it will be Young. During that time, any shortcomings of Young will be because he does not have the necessary supporting cast, and/or coaches are failing him with faulty schemes and defective gameplans.  So, until Tepper is out, Young is in.
    • Young is the kind of QB who will go as far as the team drags him 90% of the time. And once in a long while he'll explode and light the opposing team up. That is not anywhere near where we need to be as a team. What' worse is that we've won way too many games this season due to an extremely easy schedule. So we can't select a top QB in the draft, and a free agent QB is usually not the answer.  The Panthers fell victim to a long stretch of bad QBs coming out of college. Even if we had made different moves and selected any number of different QBs coming out, we still would have ended up with a bust most likely. Bryce is a bust. Tua is a bust. Zach Wilson? Yikes. Trey Lance. Justin Fields. Mac Jones. Kenny Picket. CJ Stroud. My point is that a lot of teams were devastated by this stretch of bad QBs coming out of college, but we were dumb enough to trade the farm for one of them.  The smart move? Tale the 2 first round picks from the Rams for Burns, and keep CMC. Sit tight. Whatever QB falls in your lap in the draft, take him. Then use the other two first round picks to build up the o-line on the cheap. This isn't Morning GMing. I said take the Rams deal at the time. We have not had a good GM ever in franchise history.  No more trading up for QBs. Clearly is a total guessing game. Stay put. Trade vets for draft picks and start the rebuilding process with a new GM and new coaches. Cut Bryce and bring him back on a vet min deal. Then cut him again for being trash. He's done here if I had any say.
