How? Sam Darnold is our starting QB with no hope for the future? We have a top pick in a draft with all time shitty QBs. It’s like God himself hates the Panthers

The next draft is the soonest that they have a realistic shot at a possible solution at qb.

If they hadn't squandered their 2nd and possibly 3rd round pick maybe they could have taken a chance on one of these kids in the second.

If they want one in this draft they are forced to take him at 6 because no team is trading up for one of these qbs. Someone behind us would be more likely to jump ahead of us for one of those LT's than trade with us.

I'm telling you, once the trade details come out you'll understand why Nick wanted to drag this out but the deal has been done since Monday.

I 100% guaranteed Watson to Carolina.

And I know the time when it will be announced but Rayzor might ban me for saying it.

What is better for us long term?  Falcons or saints getting the smooth criminal?

I think the saints are probably a legit contender immediately with him whereas the Falcons are further away right now.  So I guess I'd rather him go there.

Long term is much harder to predict.

Ellis. Question for you. Why do you cover the Panthers? I listened to about 10 minutes of your twitter show the other night, and to me it sounds like you hate the team. Just wondering.

I don’t hate the Panthers. It’s not my job to cheerlead for them, either.

Actually, it certainly appears you do 🧐

For example, every time you're interviewed you lead with something like "oh I like Matt Rhule and I'm certainly not calling for his job, but..."...

...and then you go on to completely sh*t all over him and effectively call for him to be fired 🤦‍♂️

Dude, that's OK, but just own it already, go ahead and give your real opinion...

...and let's be honest here, the truth is your opinion is all you have to bring to the table... 😉

Thank you once again for your feedback. I hope you have a great weekend.

I don’t know if you follow my work, but I’m extremely fair and cautious when it comes to sharing information.

You should go ahead and let loose, remove the shackles!  Literally nothing you post/discuss isn't already out in the public forum... 🤦‍♂️

That’s not my role typically, but when there’s something of value to share, and it’s credible, I’ll share it.

Name one single piece of factual info you weren't at best the 7th guy to put out on Al Gore's internets... 🧐

My full-time job is sports talk radio, so I’m not jockeying for clicks.

Really?  "full-time"...??

I’m enjoying my life. Blessed to have a healthy, ever-too-fast growing trio of kids, a great wife who has been through a lot lately, and a variety of ways to bring some Panthers nostalgia, info, and analysis (and some occasional levity) to those who choose it. Like I said, I sincerely appreciate your perspective. However you view my work, it’s my pleasure to absorb critique along the way—it’s part of the deal. Again, I hope you have a great weekend.

    • In another post, Snow says about three years before you can properly grade a rookie class.  Sounds about right…
    • And this reiterates why I don’t want a Young contract extension. Please let us find another QB.
    • Oh, the high expectations after a draft. Keep your expectations low, people. Darin Gantt's latest "Ask The Old Guy" gives life to one of those lessons about pro football reality as a fan: "Rasheed Walker was a three-year starter at left tackle for the Packers, so Freeling is going to have to work. Hunter's got another big 'un in front of him in Bobby Brown III and a different kind of defensive tackle in Tershawn Wharton. Chris Brazzell II's got a lot of traffic at his position. Zakee Wheatley has to be better than the chronically underappreciated Nick Scott, and Sam Hecht is a fifth-round rookie at the hardest position on the line to play, who probably doesn't have immediate positional flexibility, and a solid free agent addition in Luke Fortner in front of him. "Fans generally love their draft class as soon as it arrives, because there is no evidence to the contrary yet. Once guys get on the field, the reality begins to creep in, and the seasoned among you remember that if you get three or four good players out of a draft, that was an amazing draft." https://www.panthers.com/news/ask-the-old-guy-things-looking-up-after-the-draft-monroe-freeling-luke-kuechly-bryce-young-derrick-brown Don't get crazy. Winning the draft (or the offseason BTW) on paper always leads to good feelings and great expectations, especially when you seemingly succeeded the season before, but let's remember that the Panthers are very much a work in progress. Team building takes time. If we get a couple of starters out of the draft, it's a good draft, but three or four would be an amazing draft, and anything more than that is actually sensational--even if entails a few multiple high end rotational players along with three starters. Moreover, kind of within that same vein, the coaches have to let the kids off the chain. Remember the coach-speak of past coaches about competition that is anything but because coaches have their notions about veteran experience? Not saying that they're necessarily wrong, but sometimes I think their reluctance to put the young guys out there is based somewhat in dogma or possibly fear because big stakes are on the line (e.g., their jobs). It can be frustrating to say the least, but the coaches are supposed to know best. Again, I say all of this so that we can remember to temper expectations and keep them within the realm of reality. It's like telling your mind to think of it as something akin to under-promising and over-delivering. Leave room to be pleasantly surprised for the best case scenario, but be cognizant that that rarely happens. I would think at this point, most of us should be able to recognize growth when we see it, and sometimes that growth doesn't manifest itself in the form of immediate supremacy, but a setting of the stage for long term dominance for years to come. It seems like we're on track for an emergence by 2028 or 2029. We still have huge questions, but by 2029, hopefully we will take our seat at the table of the perennial contenders in the NFL.
