There's a lot on paper to think optimistically about.

But there's still these factors:

1) I'm not believing in our defense yet. We're looking at a lot of subtraction by subtraction at the moment. Perhaps some stout defenders are on their way in, but I'm looking at a defense that is right now weaker than it was last season. And last season, we got run over by everyone just about after week 4.

2) I don't believe in Robby Anderson as a WR2, I think he's chicken-hearted and a diva on top of that. Bad team mate and bench poison. Hopefully Terrace Marshall can move into the WR2 or we find a trade partner for him.

3) QB. We don't have one yet, but we doubled down on who we had last year. I'd bet that Cam is still on speed dial and that's not a good thing. We will probably draft QB in the first round now, but I'm not sure of the strength of this class (although no class is ever completely a bust in QBs, someone always seems to stick) and I'm not sure Rhule is going to develop a pro-level QB.

4) The team was soft last year, cream puffs in light blue and black. There was a decided lack of grit outside of three or four players, one of which has moved on to Philadelphia. Soft teams develop from soft culture. They don't survive in the NFL, they last about, hmmm, four weeks. I don't believe in Rhule's culture, but maybe it will firm up this year.

We've gotten some good players and had the good fortune to NOT get our unicorn. That's reassuring, but man, the stink of the last couple of years is going to be hard to wash off of the team.

I see these points--I prefaced my bit with "on paper..." so these issues are in the back of my mind as well.  I really do not get the Robby Anderson hype.  I am also hoping Marshall steps up.

To me, it is hard to gauge the OL because they were SO BAD last year.  I really think the biggest problems were our guards--I kept yelling "How hard is it to find 2 capable guards?"

Has anyone considered the fact that Bozemen might play LG with Elflein at C?

I was wondering about his too. Its probably something that will be sorted out in camp. IMO on the outside looking in- Bozeman and the Panthers are better suited if he's our Center. Elf may not even be G if we can pick up one more piece or if Brown is in shape and ready to play next season. My fingers are crossed!

Exactly my thoughts.   The idea is to make Elf a backup if you can, but (HOPEFULLY) they get the OL situated before preseason ends.   They need to find their spots and get to know each other.

Yes. One of the most important things for offensive lines is finding the lineup and then sticking with it. Consistency plays a huge part in gelling the group.

Bozeman, Corbett, and keeping Elflein at guard makes the interior OL much better than last year. Elf is now C #3.

Finally settling on leaving Christensen at T and using him as a backup G.

Wish we could have at least got a 3 year deal with Bozeman, but a lame duck coach only going to get you 1.

The OL went from no proven leadership to 2 playoff/SB level OL leaders with Bozeman and Corbett.

Expecting the Panthers to pass on an OL in the 1st round and draft 1 or 2 OLs later to compete or at least add depth.

Would love a trade back, recoup a 2nd rounder and draft Linderbaum. BC-Bozeman-Linderbaum-Corbett-Moton.

Maybe we draft a LT in R2 or maybe we package the acquired 2nd along with something else to move back up for Ridder.
