When it comes to O-line, we've got to quit being the suckers that always buy the old beater that was only driven on Sundays by a little old lady. Maybe this is one of those better to pass ons.

We've got a couple of good vet pick ups to help solidify the line. Let's build with some youth there.

This is what happens when you have a team led by guys who are not that bright. First, they failed to fix the o-line problem that clearly existed last season, now they go into overkill mode and try to spend too many resources on the problem. Classic Panthers blunder. On the other hand, we're not really in trouble unless we draft a 2022 QB. I'm somewhat ok with this overkill, but just don't draft any Pickles level QBs in this draft.

That doesnt make any sense.  Thats eerily similar to last year in what people were saying about slater.  If Cross can play LT he can play LT

Did I say Cross cannot play LT?

I said I did not see his value at #6 overall.  I think he'd be there at #12, so if we could add a second rounder and trade back (for Cross or Penning) I would do it.

Makes perfect sense.  If you think Cross is worth the #6, fine.

Like the Rams did when they signed Andrew Wentworth and we signed Matt Kahlil?

Looking at the FA's we're picking up, I agree Cross doesn't seem to fit that downhill run blocking scheme they seem to be building. I do think someone will get impatient and wanna move up for a CB/DE, maybe even Jordan Davis

No offense to Armstead but I confess I'm kinda wanting to draft a left tackle.

Mostly because this is a good class for them but also partly because I really don't want to draft any of the quarterbacks.

I think the fact that we are even firmly in the discussion for Armstead points to us using our 1st on a QB. They are trying to shore up deficiencies and put the best team possible around a young QB. Which….is the right thing to do. Just not sure it’s right class to do it with.

My thought is that they are going to go with Pickett bc he is “the most NFL ready.” Put talent around him. Then if he sucks just keep swinging. If he’s good then you’re golden.

How about a wild card pick with Jordan Davis at 6?  After we sign Armstead of course.

now that we are keeping derrick brown for sure, davis would be a bit overkill at the position. i think the idea was to pair brown with someone who can play the three technique like matt ioannidis has who can rush the passer and can get thin enough to take advantage of other teams needing extra help on brown. think some version of star and kk short with brown playing star. for all the edge pressure we got last season with burns, haynes, and reddick we didn't get much from the tackle beside brown. davis is probably going to play over the ball a bit like brown.

Just can't make up my mind what the hell kind of defense we are gonna run.  I guess it makes it hard to know who I want on draft day, and why

    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
    • Moton is a class act.
    • Sure, that is possible. That’s what, an extra 55 yards a game on average and 7 more TDs? What if he’s just 15th?  I imagine they would extend him in that situation due to the belief that he’ll keep trending up. maybe a 3 year contract to prove he can be top 10? Sounds like a Tepper plan.
