Trade Back - Draft Ridder - Bridge with Cam

First, we don’t have a top of the 4th pick. We have the last pick of the 4th (Rams pick) before the comps. Second, why waste a pick on Zappe? Grier had more promise and he was a waste of a pick. We need a QB that can be a franchise pick, take a flyer on a guard at that pick. There were available guards, cough Trey Smith cough, last year and there will likely be this year as well.

Whoever delivers your eulogy has an incredibly easy job.

"As anyone who knew stbugs will tell you, he never recovered from the Panthers passing over Trey Smith in the 2021 NFL Draft".

Watch him play. The measurables just don't translate. He looks like a JAG out there.

I liked him last year as a second round project, but he didn't make the jump you'd expect him to as a Senior. He struggles throwing to his left.

Another kid that should have jumped to the NFL while the hype wasn't being analysed too closely.

If we trade back, sure, take a gamble with Corral, Howell, maybe Ridder.  But there's no reason to frame this discussion around Cam's shadow remaining.

But I'm not a fan of trading much further back than early teens.  We can get a top lineman or skill position guy that high.  So if we gain a 2nd or 3rd, then yeah, take a gander with Corral, Strong, Glass, etc.

This, 100%. Zappe might be the real deal, but if he's not, then he's going to be an inexpensive but decent back up for the QB we draft next year.

Zappe holds the record for NCAA yardage and TDs in a season, and that's playing out of WKU. While it's not the SEC, he was against better competition than Jerry Falwell U. (Liberty).

Zappe is the new Colt Brennan.

Meanwhile you are still slobbering this front office for the Sam Darnold trade. At least he has some standards.

There is literally no difference between Zappe and Willis except he’s taller, and has better numbers. GTFO that we got a real franchise guy at 6. Get the franchise OT and keep rocking with Darnold.

We just tried to trade the farm for Watson. One of these QB's is getting drafted at some point by the Panthers. Ya'll might as well get comfortable.

He wants an opportunity to start. Idk why people think he owes us one more season just to pass the symbolic torch. We aren't winning anything meaningful. Let Cam do his own thing and that isn't taking another beating in Carolina just for the fun of it.

Yea, I would imagine the last thing he wants is a repeat of last year in any capacity. The idea of using him as a bridge is pretty disrespectful. If we draft a LT at 6, I could see him signing here.

No one is suggesting that Cam owes us anything.  Bottom line is Cam just isn’t good anymore and won’t have many options.

He is still a FA right now for the same reason he was a FA half way through last season.  And he did more harm than good with his on the field showings last year.  He will be lucky to latch on anywhere, let alone a team of his choosing.

This is why I always dislike the assumption that "great athlete" equals "great quarterback".

Frequently it doesn't. Truth be told, that's probably more often than not.

    • What’s going to suck about Necas is that he’s going to go somewhere and put up 80+ points. Good player, wrong system.
    • Yeah I didn’t intend to suggest they made adjustments, I just said Rivera and Wilkes were good at barking at dudes for sucking. Vs the Rhule high pitched yapping and the Reich dead eyes and mutter
