Hard to be high on Darnold and then saying senslesss turnovers must end.  I  mean that is Sam's entire colleigate and professional career.  He is the posterchild.

But Ben is just doing what he has to do.   He stuck with Sam so what can you do.

I mean Sams got everything but the brain. His 2018 comments were pretty much the same as today, has occasional magic to his game but has some fundamental issues that no one's ever really bothered to work on. Either way McAdoo is struck me as way smarter than Rhule and much better with his choice of words.

what did you expect him to say?  "Yeah Sam is a turd we cant wait to scrape off our boots"

I mean, he is in a bad spot and can only say and do so much

But to be honest, I would like the Sam BS to end.   I'd rather him say some BS about every spot will be competed for.  Best man plays.  I don't think Sam has earned default starter status at this point in the nightmare.

How can he say that when there is no QB comp on the roster at this time, and ultimately this is a Rhule decision as far as who plays.

Mcadoo when asked how much he values readiness or potential, he said something along the lines of he would rather swing for the fences. That is an interesting tidbit, my call is Howell or Corall.

Willis has the most upside according to most. That would be the swing for the fences if they stay at 6.

Speaking at a presser, Panthers OC Ben McAdoo was asked if Sam Darnold was Carolina's starting quarterback and said "yes."

"That is something I shouldn't have said," McAdoo added. From the mouths of babes. We guess we can't rule this out being some sort of clumsy smokescreen, and nobody should be surprised if the Panthers draft a quarterback. But one of the league's elite Down Bad teams continues to present itself as extremely Down Bad. “Sam was one of the people that intrigued me for the job. Sam does have some magic in his game," McAdoo also said.

His best magic trick is making our offensive possession disappear.

I look at Sam Darnold and I look at PJ Walker....and if you didn't know how they arrived into the NFL and where strictly viewed as two dudes who play QB.....I'd say they are the same tier QB.  Different pros and cons but same tier.

and yeah, Ben is just saying what Rhule wants.  And clearly they have already discussed Sam is the guy as of right now.

My preference is simply they stop with the Sam BS.  He isn't very good.  And based on Rhule and even Sam himself in that van interview.....reality seems to be something that is missing at BOA.   lol Sam saying he has proven he can be a very good QB.  We have a HC and a QB who are utterly clueless.  I got no problem with whacky confidence.  For 3rd string to think he can be an All Pro.  I'm cool with the mindset but not fake realities.  Sam has sucked.   He hasn't proven he can play at a high level.   And this charade he should he is a default starter at this point? ....... is just old.

    • He does have speed. 21+ top end speed is very fast for a linebacker and his 3 cone drill time is considered excellent, close to elite.
    • This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan.  At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind.  So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information. Pass this on to Tepper.
    • I hope he ends up being our best ever at the position. Ryan Kalil left big shoes behind that we haven't quite been able to fill since.
