We aren't keeping Darnold past this season.  Corral has the potential to get better as he gets more exposure/playing time.  If it's close you play the one with the potential to get better and be part of our future.

Sam Darnold could have 3900 yds 37 pass tds and only 6 interceptions this year.

Speaking of quarterback...

So…Rappaport said Corral was open about it. I’ve seen people (including that Twitter thread) say Matt chose to abstain from alcohol during football season (which is discipline).

…sounds like the truth got twisted like those childhood phone games where the end message is completely different than the initial one.

It is hilarious (and not surprising) if something like discipline got twisted into assuming he had an alcohol issue.

Yeah he could also have 2000 receiving yards but it’s just very unlikely. The people that got a close look at him (our staff) were adamant about bringing in some “competition” for a reason. They have given up on him.

It was in one of the Ole Miss youtube vids. He basically said he partied like all the other freshman and sophomores did his first two years, and realized he needed to get his poo together if he was gonna actually have a chance at being the starter and getting drafted. He got his poo together, started and got drafted. Big fuging deal. Nice of David Newton to pull a TMZ on the guys first day at rookie camp.

Do we have a real OC? Sure feels like it. I know it’s day one, but feels like we are getting some good pieces in place.

It kind of sounds like Rhule should have hired people with some actual NFL experience instead of a college passing game coordinator that was all hype! Rhule was too smart for his own good and trusted his process too much.

I think you are on to something. He thought he was going to be one of the smartest coaches in the league right away and could plug in whoever at OC/DC etc.  He seems to have gotten humbled a little with hiring some experienced staff and seemed to kind of let Fitt handle the draft. Maybe can can learn/grow into a decent coach. We shall see…

You blame it on Rhule, I blame it on Tepper.

He gave a laughably insane contract to a college coach with no experience...didn't have a strong GM in place, and gave said coach all of the power in the organization.

What did Tepper expect was going to happen?

    • Oddly feeling really good about tonight. fug the heat
    • Here are my takeaways from the conference (IMO): - Is Dan against taking a WR 3 years in a row? No. Would that be his preference? Also, no. Not by a long shot.  - I think draft gurus are wrong. Tight end is not an early priority. They like the guys in the building enough to see them develop, but a later round guy is being looked at (just seemed like he was able to label a couple of guys "talented", but stopped short of suggesting the class is good at the top. Seemed quick to talk about the depth of the class) - If we are taking a DL, it will be in the top 2 rounds. They fall off a cliff at some point soon after. - They are targeting guys in each round. I think we are more likely to move up than down in this draft to prevent missing out on a guy. He doesn't want to give up a lot though, man loves his draft picks. - DBs are a priority. We want to come away with a safety and a nickel. Maybe even a safety that can play nickel. Thieneman sounds more and more like a real possibility, if he is there. We are taking a safety in the first 2 rounds, if I had to put money on it. - Age matters more for 1st round picks, probably (Mesidor), but not for after that (Stukes). - They have a guy or two that they want in the 1st round, but crazy things DO happen in the draft, and they may shift gears and take a different guy if someone falls that they didn't expect to be there.  - Character matters. A LOT. If a guy has character concerns of any kind, you can be pretty confident they aren't on our board. They may bring in a guy or two for a visit to gauge the validity/severity of the concern though.
