Disrespecting the best uniform ever

To be fair, I disagree with half of his opinions on that list.

I would love for us to ditch the silver. I've always hated that silver. Especially with the sparkles on the helmet.

I've always hated our fuging helmets from day one.

The problem is that ours are both, among the best in the league, but also need to be updated.

I love them, but we basically have had the same uniforms for the entire 25+ year existence of our franchise.  If we had won a bunch of SB's, then sure, keep them and we can have a longstanding iconic look that never changes.  But we haven't, nothing wrong with a shakeup, just don't do anything stupid and too far out there like some of these teams do and then end up looking like an Arena or XFL team.

Can you imagine what Rhule would come up with? I shudder to think about it.

Combine that with the Nike's desire to make uniforms look like something from a bad high school movie.  Their best work comes when the team tells them to make them look like their classic uniforms before the last redesign (or seven).

"Update them but don't turn them into cartoon characters" seems to be beyond their comprehension.

When they release their masterpiece and the team's fans immediately start watching the countdown of the five-year clock before the next major change, and five years later they are still watching the days, minutes, and seconds count down, you kinda get the idea that maybe you missed.  But, I'm sure the designers convince themselves that they are just too advanced for the team's fans.

Moral of the story: be careful what you wish for.  Case and point: the Atlanta Falcons, who went from dated to awful.

Now add Rhule and company, who are 0 for 1 in rebranding efforts and the 1 was a rout.

For those who remember The Huddle blowing up Dave Dameshek's uniform poll...

That guy kept reporting my "Dave Dameshek getting blown by Alice" gif.  Had to keep uploading it to new hosting sites.

Related: the author of this, Broncos website writer Andrew Mason, was (briefly) employed as the lead writer for Panthers.com before getting his dream job working for his favorite team.

Still one of my all-time favorite endeavors, my laptop at the time ran at 100% for hours at a time 😉

Ive always been a bigger fan of the logo than the uniforms, honestly.

When it first appeared, I thought the logo looked cool. Thought the redesign made it look even better.

Uniform wise? Outside of the helmets and fonts, most pro football uniforms follow a fairly standard formula.

    • I don’t remember Mills from the USFL days just when he was in NO.  But when you saw Smitty it screamed oh yeah, this guy has something. Immediately. So, have not seen anything that dramatic with Young. All I know about him says he is solid with his character and smarts and don’t see a lot of that translating into screaming he really has something. I think the people that say he could possibly acceptably run an offense designed around him, with top flight talent in support, are probably about right. But I can’t see any Pro Bowls or lofty accomplishments in my crystal ball.
    • I thought I read they’d still be there but as a backup in case of malfunction.  So it’s not so much a goodbye as it is they’re being sidelined (I’ll see myself out)
    • Their forecheck is relentless because they are so physical and heavy.  It’s just a perfect mashup for how they play. Florida before Paul Marice played just like us. Speed but with finesse.  Paul made them but into playing heavy. They went and got players that added to that style he wants and it works.  Plus they have the best goalie in the league.  That helps more than anything. The canes have got let Koochie be their guy he will never become the star that most think he will if rod keeps sticking with vets that flame out.    1. Koochie or a Soros type player  2. Switch to zone defense  3. Get heavier.    like I said, I love Rod. Best pro coach ever in the Carolinas sports buy he is holding us back with his philosophy and style.  He is the reason.  He can change all of that with decisions.
